10 Iconic US Musicians from Florida

The state of Florida is located on the south-eastern end side of the United States with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side. This means that the state has a lot of beaches that attract people to it as they want to live in a place that has a good environment and great sights. Therefore the state will feature a diverse population as the people moving to it do not come from the same background.

The music scene in the state will thus be influenced by different cultures. This means that many genres and musicians are doing well. Therefore,  this article will look at iconic musicians who come from Florida.

1. Ariana Grande

The famous singer and songwriter were born in Boca Raton, Florida. She is famous for her four-octave vocal range that has garnered attention and critical acclaim all over the world. The singer has 27 Guinness World Records, two Billboard Music Awards, two Grammy Awards and many other accolades.

Furthermore,  she is often regarded as a pop icon as she is one of the bestselling artists in the music industry and has sold more than 85 million records globally.  She is also the first woman to have five number-one debuts on the charts. Being the most subscribed female artist on YouTube also shows that she has a huge following that likes her songs.

2. Jason Derulo

The singer was born in Miramar, Florida in 11989. Before starting out on his own, Jason used to write songs for various artists. He started his solo recording career in 2009  after signing to the Beluga Heights before moving into Warner Music Group and since then he has sold more than 30 million singles and has eleven platinum singles.

His songs like 鈥楽avage Love鈥� and 鈥楲ove not War鈥� went viral on Tiktok and increased his fan base

3. Gloria Estefan

The Cuban-American singer started her music career in 1976 as the lead singer for a group known as Miami Latin Boys but later changed the name to Miami Sound Machine. Gloria rose to fame after releasing the song 鈥楥onga鈥� in 1985 which became her signature song and also made the group win the Grand Prix at the Tokyo Music Festival in 1986.

She is iconic for taking Latino music to the world. She has also received many accolades that including three Grammy Awards,  a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

4. T-Pain

The 37-year-old rapper, singer and songwriter were born in Tallahassee, Florida. The singer popularized the use of an auto-tune that allowed him to create distinctive vocal sounds. His success prompted other artists like Snoop Dogg and Travis Scott to use it.

T-Pain was nominated for the Grammys 12 times and has won two throughout the course of his career. 

5. Debbie Harry

The singer鈥檚 real name is Deborah Ann Harry. She was born in July 1945 in Miami, Florida.  She is the lead vocalist of a band called Blondie and has had much success over the years in that her recordings with the band have topped the charts on various occasions from 1979 to 2017.

Having collaborated with different artists who major in different genres and also released hit songs that captured the attention of the public, she became one of the influential people in the music industry.

6. Ray Charles

The singer, pianist and songwriter were one of the most influential people in contemporary music society. Ray Charles commonly known to his friends as Brother Ray made music of different genres like soul, gospel, country, rock and roll, jazz, blues and R&B. His versatility and ability to make different types of music is what made him famous and also one of the first black artists to be given artistic control of his music by a mainstream record company.

The singer was active in the music scene from 1947 to 2004 when he died. During the course of his career, he won awards that include 18 Grammy Awards,  Kennedy Center Honor and the National Medal of Arts among others.

7. Flo Rida

Tramar Lacel Dillard is his real name and he was born in Carol City, Florida. He is one of the bestselling artists in the music industry and has sold more than 80 million records across the world. One of his singles known as 鈥淟ow鈥� broke the record in digital download sales when it was being released and also stayed the first in the chart for ten weeks.

Flo Rida is still active in the music industry 22 years after entering the scene and is still doing well to date. This fact makes him one of the iconic musicians in the country.

8. Aaron Carter

He is a rapper, singer, dancer, songwriter and record producer. He rose to fame in the late 90s as a hip-hop singer and attracted the attention of teens and pre-teens. His first appearance as a solo musician was when he opened for the Backstreet Boys in Berlin. Since then, he has released several singles and albums that have done well and thus put him on the same page with other influential artists.

9. Trick Daddy

The rapper was born in Miami, Florida. He majors in Gangsta rap and Southern hip hop. He started his music career in 1996 and is still active in the music scene. He does tours around the country performing classic hits and other new releases which helps him stay relevant in the current music scene.

10. Marilyn Manson

Brian Hugh Warner known by his stage name Marilyn Manson is an American songwriter, singer, actor and painter. He does genres like industrial rock, industrial metal, shock rock, alternative metal and hard rock.  Manson is famous for his controversial image and personality as the lead singer of a band. He has been active in the music industry since 1989 and he is considered one of the most controversial singers heavy metal scene.
