He was born on March 8, 1976, in Los Angeles. Less than a year after his birth, he lost his father on January 29, 1977. Following the incident, his mother relocated with Prinze to Albuquerque, New Mexico. That is where he grew up for most of his early life.

2. Prinze Jr.’s grandfather sparked his acting passion

When Freddie was about 15 years, his grandfather encouraged him to pursue acting to build on the legacy of his father. His inspiration was motivated by actor Neil Patrick Harris who visited Prinze’s high school at the time. Harris got the kids impressed with the acting profession and so Freddie decided to become an actor.

3. Freddie began auditioning after high school

He graduated from high school in 1994. Afterward, he moved to Los Angeles where he sought audition opportunities for television roles. In 1995, he secured a guest role on the ABC TV series Family Matters. He also appeared in a few programs and made-for-TV movies during that period.

It took Prinze Jr. several years to get noticed in the industry after starting as an actor. 1997s I Know What You Did Last Summer was his breakthrough film. It gained him popularity among teenage and young adult audiences.

Subsequently, he reprised his role in the film’s sequel in 1998, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Henceforth, he received lead roles in various casts.

The romantic comedy She’s All That in 1999 was his first lead role where he played Zack Siler. Since then he took part in many films such as Scooby-Doo and the eighth season of Fox’s series 24, playing Cole Ortiz.
