2. She is the first Welsh player to earn 100 caps for the national team

Fishlock became the first player from Wales to reach 100 caps for the national team on April 5, 2017. Welsh Footballer of the Year was given to her in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2019.

She has won numerous championships and regular season titles with the teams she has played for, including the Scottish Women’s Premier League, Scottish Women’s Cup, two consecutive NWSL Shield victories, two W-League regular season titles, and two W-League grand final victories.

Fishlock joined Bristol in England after leaving Eredivisie’s side, where her breakthrough occurred. Fishlock joined Bristol in the FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL) of England in 2011. Bristol finished the 2011 season at a higher league place than anticipated and advanced to the FA Cup Final, where they were defeated by Arsenal 2-0.

Fishlock claims that she was ridiculed at school for being a lesbian and that she came to terms with being one at the age of 12.

Since 2013, Fishlock has appeared in a column for BBC Sport. In an interview she did in October 2015, she discussed the difficulties she faced as a prominent LGBT athlete. She railed against homophobia on social media and supported Athlete Ally, calling for more “respect” in the process.

Fishlock was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2018 Birthday Honours “for services to women’s football and the LGBT community.” In a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace in December 2018, The Prince of Wales presented Fishlock with her MBE in writing.
