Yaroslav Amosov is a Ukrainian mixed martial artist. His nickname is “Dynamo” and he is the 4th ranked Bellator welterweight champion in the men’s Bellator pound-for-pound. Bellator MMA is a mixed martial art organized by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
He is a four-time world sambo champion, a two-time European and Eurasia champion, and also won the European Cup. Amosov is also the winner of many national and international competitions.

1. Amosov Began Martial Arts When He Was A Teenager
Amosov was born on 9th September 1993 in Irpin, Ukraine. He had no prior interest in martial arts until he was 15 years old.
He joined a sambo club. Sambo is a Russian martial art that focuses on self-defense without weapons. He trained at Hermes club in Kyiv under coaches Fedor Seredyuk and Vadim Korytny.
In addition to his career as a combat sambo athlete, he made a breakthrough at the international adult level in 2012 by winning the European Sambo Fighting Cup.
2. He Is From A Hero City
Amosov was born and raised in the city of Irpin which is approximately six miles from Kyiv the capital of Ukraine.
Irpin is now a Hero City of Ukraine, a Ukrainian honorary title awarded for outstanding heroism during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Irpin has naturally beautiful rivers, parks, woods, and lakes plus a well-developed sports infrastructure. He has lived in Irpin his entire life.
3. His MMA Debut Was At 18 Years Old
Amosov made his professional mixed martial arts debut at the age of 18 on 14th June 2012. He struck down Vitaliy Maystrenko with punches in the first round of their encounter under the Combat Sambo Federation of Ukraine banner.
Here he achieved significant success in single combat. He later got wins against Artiom Cula, Vitaliy Martonika, and Vadim Sandulskiy.
4. Amosov Went On To Become A World Champion
Amosov has competed within the Russian organization Tech-Krep FC since 2014 in various Ukrainian promotional tournaments. He won seven fights while losing to fighters from Europe, Russia, and Brazil. The Ukrainian ‘Dynamo’ made a name for himself in the region, stopping 15 of 16 first opponents.
He defeated Caucasian fighter Shamil Zavurov in September 2014 to become Eurasia’s Professional Combat Sambo champion. By March 2015, he had become a Ukrainian sports master by repeatedly winning several combat sambo championships.
He went on his winning streak to secure the welterweight title by winning a match against popular Robert Soldic on 18 June 2016. The following year, on August 18, 2017, he defended his Bellator title against Brazilian fighter Nathan Oliveira.
Amosov, the American Top Team representative, improved to 26-0 when he bagged the Bellator welterweight championship and became just the third man to claim the 170-pound title undefeated after Lyman Good and Ben Askren.
He became the world champion for WCSF three times in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
5. He Helped Defend Ukraine From The Russian Invasion
During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Amosov cut short his training in Thailand and returned home to fight for his country. He started by evacuating his wife and six-month-old son to a ‘safe zone.’
He then joined other brave men, some professional athletes, and fighters, in defending Ukraine from the Russian invasion. Unfortunately, some of the athletes who fought to defend their country lost their lives.
6. Amosov Retrieved His Championship Belt After Their House Was Bombed
Having registered a record of 26 wins and no losses, Amosov is the current holder of the Bellator welterweight world championship belt. After winning, he took the belt to his mum’s house in Irpin, on the outskirts of Kyiv for safekeeping.
When Russia attacked Ukraine, their home was bombed during the war. Later Amosov Joined the forces to help defend their country and together with the soldiers he managed to recover the belt from the debris.
7. Fighting Is His Primary Source Of Income and He Loves Shoes
Yaroslav Amosov is among the wealthiest fighters, his net worth has been significantly on the rise since 2020. His primary source of income is from being a successful, undefeated fighter.
He also gets an income from social media, paid promotion, advertisement, and promoted brands. He has a multimillion-dollar mansion and drives a mustang.
Amosov also loves shoes so much that he has a collection of over 100 different brands of shoes.

When Amosov won the Bellator welterweight title, he received a massive homecoming from his usual friends and family and a large group of his proud country people.
