Born on 14th February 1982, the 40-year-old (as of 2022) actor/model is a household name on local Turkish TV. He has also starred in some international dramas and films.
One of his most recent and popular roles was as Mehdi in the popular Turkish TV drama Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir (My Home My Destiny). He is also a star in Netflix’s recent special series Kuş Uçuşu (As the Crow Flies).

1. Son of An Immigrant
Celikkol’s mother is known as Ayper Çelikkol. She is from a Turkish family who immigrated to Turkey from Thessaloniki, Ottoman Empire (now, Greece).
His father’s side on the hand is of Arab descent. His father is known as Süheyl Çelikkol. Ibrahim’s father was a former football (soccer) player and worked as an officer in the Gölcük Navy. His mother worked at the same place as the bureau chief.
He has a sister named Aslı Çelikkol, a volleyball player. The entire Çelikkol family is largely into sports and sporting activities.
2. Quit Basketball After Losing His Father
At 18 years of age (2000), Süheyl Çelikkol (his father) sadly passed away due to a heart attack. Following the death of his father, he, his mother, and his sister moved to Istanbul.
Before the death of his father, Çelikkol was a basketball player and was part of the under-20 national basketball team. After his father passed away, he left the sport for good never to return. According to him, being on court reminded him too much of his father and it was better for him to move on.
3. Became A Model After Quitting Basketball
After quitting basketball, Çelikkol became a model. He did his first catwalk for the brand Vakko. His life was revolutionized when an agency owner gave him his card one day after he arrived in Istanbul.
He was the only Turkish model picked at the age of 19 despite competing against famous models in his initial auditions. Ibrahim then visited Germany, Ankara, Izmir, and the fashion show. He then participated in further fashion events, hired a model, and began earning money.
4. Became an Actor After Meeting Osman Sinav
As a model, Ibrahim Celikkol met Turkish film producer Osman Sinav. Osman Sinav is a film director, producer, and screenwriter. Some of his works include; Kurtlar Vadisi (2003), Uzun Hikâye (2012), and Sen Anlat Karadeniz (2018).
Celikkol met Osman Sinav on a chance encounter and that random meeting marked the beginning of his acting career. For his first role, Osman gave him the role of “Chief Superintendent Şamil Baturay” in his film “Pars: Narkoterör”.
5. Acting Debut Came In 2008 In the TV series “Pars: Narkoterör”
What would become a successful acting career, Celikkol’s acting career began in 2008 after getting a role from Osman. Celikkol played “Chief Superintendent Şamil Baturay” in “Pars: Narkoterör”, to kickstart his acting life. 2012 would seem his start in the blockbuster film Fetih 1453. In the movie, he played the character “Ulubatlı Hasan” to great impact.
Both audiences and critics gave Fetih 1453 high accolades. The film, whose greatest budget was $18.2 million, made $61.2 million at the box office and was dubbed a blockbuster as a result. Fetih 1453 was the fourth-most watched movie in Turkish history, according to the platform “Tum Filmler Seyirci Rekoru – Ilk 100” in 2018.
