Tanzania is known for the best African singers in particular those that are born and raised in the country.

However, most of their songs are in Kiswahili and also most of the most famous songs are Christian songs that hit the region.

However, it is good to pick a few of the top singers who have become famous over time not only in Tanzania but in East Africa and globally.

1. Ally Saleh Kiba

Ali Saleh Kiba is a Tanzanian singer- and as well as a songwriter and footballer. He is also known as the current manager and the owner of Kings Music Record Label. He was born on November 26, 1986, in Iringa Region, Tanzania.

He is famous and well known by most people in Africa as Ali Kiba. He is graded and figured as one of the best singers in Tanzania in 2022 right now. He is one of the most liked singers in Tanzania.

His song “Mwana” was a monolithic hit and it earned great reviews from both the professionals and his fans. Besides, He is also on the list of the richest man in the field of the music

2. Diamond Platnumz

He is a Muslim musician, known as Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, he was born on October 2, 1989, in Tandale, Dar es Salaam, in Tanzania.

He is one of the most striking and consistent musicians in Tanzania and East Africa presently. He is a Tanzanian bongo Flava recording singer, dancer, donor, and a man of affairs of Ha heritage. Besides him being one of the best Tanzanian musicians today.

He is also the CEO of WCB Wasafi Record Label, Zoom Extra, as well as Wasafi TV.

3. Nahreel

The other famous musician or singer in Tanzania is Nahreel, whose real name Nahreel is Emmanuel Mkono. He is also classified as the most famous musician in Tanzania this year ( 2022 today). Nahreel is a co-founder and member of the music group Navy Kenzo.

Furthermore, he is also the CEO of The Industry Studios in Tanzania. He fast started as the assistant music producer at Kama Kawa studio in dar es salaam, Tanzania. In 2009 he released Riz one instrumental for Izzo Bizness under MJ records.

This made him one of the best-selling Tanzanian performing artists of the time. Due to this, he was rewarded.

4. Bill Nass

Bill Nass is known as William Nicholus Lyimo, he was born on April 11, 1993. He is a Tanzanian rapper of changer heritage. He was born in Tanga, Tanga region.

He was nominated for the new best artist award at the 2015 Kilimanjaro Tanzania Music Awards (KTMA).

He attended two primary schools that are Mbuyuni primary school, he studied for only three years from 2000 to 2003, and later transferred to Mkunguni primary school.

He later joined Oysterbay secondary school after primary graduation and after that, he graduated from secondary school and joined the College of Business Education Dar es salaam campus to pursue a diploma in procurements.

 After there he came back to the same college and he graduated with a degree in procurements and supplies Management.

He first became prominent after the release of the song ( Raha)

5. Rehema Chalamilla

She is a female musician, whom she is popularly known as Ray C. She was born on May 15, 1982.

 She won the following, in her journey of music and singing in 2004 Tanzania Music Awards – Best Female Artist,2004 Kisima Music Awards – Female Artist from Uganda & Tanzania, and 2007 Tanzania Music Awards – Best Female Artist

She was nominated in the following in her journey of singing and performance; 2006 Pearl of Africa Music Awards – Best Female (Tanzania), 2005 Channel O Music Awards – Best African East, and 2007 Pearl of Africa Music Awards Best Female in Tanzania.

She was also the Pearl of Africa Music Awards – Best Female in, 2008, Tanzania and at 2011 Tanzania Music Awards Best Video, Best Song, Best Afro Pop Song, and Best Collaboration Song (‘Mama Ntilie’ with Gelly Wa Rhyme & AT)

6. Harmonize

Harmonize’s full name is Rajabu Abdul Kahali. He was born on March 15, 1990. He started his music journey a year back in 2011.

After high school level, he started hawking items, until the time when he came into contact with Diamond platinum, Where he released his first album on the WCB label.

He is known by different titles or nicknames such as Harmonize, Konde Boy, Jeshi, Tembo, Mbunge, and Konde-Mabeyo.

Today he is one of the most popular and talented musicians in Tanzania

7. Zuch

She is a Tanzanian musician, her original name is Zuhura Othman Soud she was born 22nd of  November 1993. She was born in Zanzibar, She is known as Zuchu in her stage or journey of music, and is a Tanzanian singer and songwriter.

 She is based in Dar es Salaam and signed to the WCB Wasafi record label.  She was awarded the Silver Plaque Button by YouTube for hitting 100,000 subscribers within a week.

Due to this, She became the first East African female artist to reach that milestone within a week. She also became the first East African female artist to reach 1 million subscribers on YouTube 11 months later.

 In 2020 Zuchu was named by AFRIMMA as the winner of the Emerging Artist Award

8. Lady Jaydee

She is a Tanzanian singer by the original name Judith Wambura Mbibo, she was born in 1979, She is known by her stage name as Lady Jaydee and also referred to as Lady JayDee in town or, is a Tanzanian singer.

She specializes mostly in the field of  R&B, Zouk, and Afro Pop genres. She was voted Best Tanzanian Female R&B Artist in 2002, performed at the Kora All Africa Designers Competition, and was awarded Best R&B Album at the Tanzania Music Awards on August 6, 2004.

In July 2005, she won an award for best female video for South Africa. She was among the first females to sing R&B in Swahili. Lady Jaydee is signed to one of Africa’s most successful music labels, Taurus Musik. She is also recognized as the queen of bongo Flava.

9. Ryavanny

He is a Tanzanian musician whose original name is Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, born August 22, 1993, he is a  songwriter and recording artist. He was born and raised in the Nzovwe ward of Mbeya city, located in the Mbeya Region.   

In the year 2011, he was still in high school when he came to realize his dreams, He performed in a contest while in high school and he emerged as a winner of the contest.

In the year 2012, he joined a music group by the name Tip Top Connection, so as to improve his career in music,

He decided to join WCB Wasafi which was under diamond platinum, while in this group in the year 2016, he was nominated for an MTV African Award

In the year 2021, he founded Next Level Music and became the CEO of it later in 2022, he left Wasafi to focus on Next Level Music.

He is the most successful bongo Flava musician in Tanzania from Mbeya region.

10. Nandy

She is a Tanzanian singer and an artist. She was born on November 9, 1992, in Mowezi Moshi. Nandy is not her original name, her birth name is Faustina Charles Mfinaga. Her parents are Mary Charles and Charles Mfinanga.

She started her education at Julius Nyerere Primary School and after her, primary school, she joined her primary school at Lomwe High School. Later after secondary school, she joined a CBE college of business.

She started her music journey in music when she turned six years old. At the age of 15, she joined the choir where she came to realize her dream further and fully.

One of her friends later introduced her to the Chief Executive of Tanzania House of Talent (THT) by the name, Ruge Mutahaba.

She later attended several competitions in her journey in music an example of the competition that she attended is that of Techno Own Stage, where she gave her more exposure in the music industry.

In 2017 she was nominated for the All  Africa  Music Awards for the best female in Eastern Africa.
