Show Lo is a Taiwanese singer, actor and host. Lo is well established by his nickname Hsiao Chu, Little pig.
Show Lo was born in Keelung City, Taiwan. His father is Taiwanese and his mother is a Taiwanese Aborigine of the Amis people.
Show Lo is the only child. His parents held multiple odd jobs to support the family when he was growing up.
Show Lo debuted as a member of the Taiwanese boy group in 1996. This after winning a singing and dancing competition.
Show Lo debuted his solo music career in 2003 when he released his first studio album Show Time. He holds many records in the Taiwanese music industry.
He was the first pop singer to hold a concert in Taipei Arena in 2005. Moreover, the first pop singer to hold three concerts within twenty-four hours was in Taipei Arena in 2010.

1. His Nickname is Little Pig
Show was nicknamed Xiao Zhu (little pig) since he was chubby while young. He weighed over 100 kilogrammes.
Lo was bullied by his classmates for his weight. This made him determined to lose it.
He played went swimming and played basketball every day during summer break. This helped him to shade weight to 80 kilogrammes within two months.
2. Expressed his Interest in Music at a Tender Age
Lo’s parents primarily put up entertainment shows to meet his basic needs. The shows were such as weddings, in which his father hosted and his mother sang.
Lo participated in these entertainment shows as a child. He played the drums onstage when he was just three.
3. A Member of a Street Dance Group
Show picked up street dance when he was in middle school. Lo was a member of a street dance group. He participated in many dancing competitions in Taiwan. Show auditioned successfully for Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School.
However, he was only enrolled there for one school term as his family was unable to afford the school fees. He returned to Keelung and enrolled in Pei De high school’s media production course.
4. He Debuted his career as a Member of the Boy Group
In 1996, Lo won a singing competition, impersonating Aaron Kwok. He debuted as a member of a boy group, four Heavenly Kings. He was with three other contestants.
However, the boy group disbanded in 1998 as two members left for compulsory military service. Show was exempted from military service since he had Gluteal Fibrotic Contracture.
Interestingly, he founded a new boy group, Romea with Ou Di tye the same year. They released two albums. Nevertheless, the group soon disbanded too.
5. His Singing Career was Stalled by a Lawsuit
From 2000 to 2002, Show’s career was Stalled by a lawsuit with his former management company. This forced him to transit from a teen idol to a variety show entertainer. He performed gags on variety shows.
However, his transition to hosting comedy game shows was successful. He earned the Triple Crown title. This was for hosting the three most popular variety shows at one point.
Suddenly, the shows were cancelled. The sudden cancellation left him jobless for three months. He referred to this moment as the bleakest in his career.
6. His Sold over 80,000 Copies of His First Album
In 2003, Show signed with Avex Taiwan. He launched his music career with the release of his first album, Show Time, selling over 80,000 copies.
Since his first album, Lo released several other albums. His second album, Expert Show, was released in 2004. Show released his third album Hypnosis Show in 2005.
The year after, he released his fourth album SPESHOW on November 17, 2006. For the album, he sang a full-length English song for the first time, “Twinkle”, with Japanese singer Koda Kumi.
Show released his fifth album Show Your Dance on November 16, 2007. He sang the duet “Defeat in Love” with Elva Hsiao
7. He was Nominated Thrice for Best Male Actor
In 2013, Lo was handpicked by director Stephen Chow to play the guest role of Prince, in the movie journey to the west.
The movie broke Chinese box office records. Chow selected Lo again in a supporting role, Octopus. This was in the 2016 movie The Mermaid.
Show was liked for his comedic talent on-screen. The movie was well recognized. Show Lo was nominated thrice for Best Male Actor in the Golden Bell Awards.
8. A Successful Television Host and Entertainer
Besides his singing career, Show Lo is a successful television host and entertainer. Show has been hosting 100% entertainment since 2001.
In 2017, he won the Best Host for a variety Show Award in the 52 Golden Bell Awards. This was for 100% Entertainment.
He is recognized as a member of the cast of the popular Chinese reality show, Go Fighting!, Moreover, as a judge on China’s Produce 101 and Street Dance of China.
9. He was the subject of a Significant Controversy
Lo publicly dated Grace Chow from 2015 to 2020. However, on April 23, 2020, Lo courted a significant controversy after Chow accused him of serial infidelity. Moreover, improper behaviour with several women, including artists signed under his entertainment agency.
Lo reportedly lost US$20 million in appearance fees and endorsements, as companies began removing him from broadcasts and advertisements. He staged a comeback on November 20, 2021, with the release of a new song, “Trap Gam.
10. He Created a Fashion Brand
In 2006, Show Lo created a fashion brand. The brand is known as STAGE. It has several branches in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
STAGE sponsors clothing for many Taiwanese entertainers. Furthermore, the brand is often seen on Taiwanese variety shows.
Lo is fluent in Japanese. He released his first Japanese single EP Dante in 2012. The song clinched 5th place in Japan’s Oricon daily charts on its first day of release. It remained at 10th place in the Oricon weekly charts. This made him the first Taiwanese male singer on the chart.
