Top 10 Interesting Facts about Aaron Yan

Aaron Yan is a Taiwanese actor/singer and a former founder memberthe  of Taiwanese famous boy band Fahrenheit.

Born as Wu Keng-lin in Taipei, Taiwan on 20 November 1985, he is one of most popular Taiwanese actors in the world today. He currently lives in Taiwan and little is known about his personal life.

1. He Lived in the United States as a Kid

Aaron Yan’s family moved to the United States when he was at an early age. He lived in Connecticut for five years before returning to Taiwan for high school and college education.

He attended the Chinese Culture University, majoring in Journalism but later switched universities and majors in his third year. 

2. Aaron Yan Started as an Online Public Blogger

Yan was discovered by Taiwanese comic producers after he posted his photos on an online public bog in 2004. He made his acting debut after he was given a small role Taiwanese drama “I love my wife” in august 2004.

He signed with comic production and HIM International Music in 2005, and he starred in Taiwanese dramas, “It Started with a Kiss” and “KO One” in the same year.

3. He Co-founded Fahrenheit Boys Band

In 2005, Aaron Yan, Caven Chen, Jiro Wang, and Wu Chu came together and formed a Taiwanese boy band known as Fahrenheit. The group gained recognition in late 2005 after they all together acted in the series “KO One”.

The group became popular after releasing their first album, which extended their fan base to most Southeast Asian countries.

Despite the band’s huge success, the group parted ways to pursue their individual careers in 2011. They did not break the band with the idea of reuniting in the future.

4. He started his Solo Career in 2011

Aaron Yan started his solo career In March 2011, when he released his debut play “The Next Me”. The album spent 5 weeks at the number 1 spot on the G-Music chart.

Yan starred in the Taiwanese musical drama, “Alice in Wonder City” In May 2012, before he released his debut studio album, “The Moment” in October 2012.

Since then, Yan had become very successful in his career, starring in numerous Taiwanese dramas and releasing five more extended plays. He released his sixth extended play, “Metropolis” which comprises self-composed songs On 25 Dec 2020.

5. He is Multi-Linguistic

Aaron is known to be a multi-linguistic artist, apart from his native Taiwanese mandarin, he is fluent in Japanese and English languages. He learned English as a kid when he and his family lived in the United States for five years.

Yan is also a popular and accomplished singer in the Japanese language. He debuted his music in Japanese in March 2015, with the single titled, “Moisturizing”.

The single was listed in the top ten spots on the Oricon Singles Chart immediately after its release. In September 2015, he released his second Japanese single, “Gelato” which was also well received among his Japanese fans.

6. Aaron Yan is Rumoured to be a Gay

Although Aaron has kept his private life well hidden from the public eyes, rumors about his sexual orientation started to circulate among his fans since his active days in the  Fahrenheit boys band.

His sexual orientation was revealed after he was accused of dating three men at the same time. Leaked photos of the star revealed that he was three-timing his ex-boyfriend.

The singer later apologized for not handling his personal matters properly and the scandal died down soon after.

7. He was Injured in his Debut Music Video Filming

In the later months of 2006, Aaron Yan tore a ligament in his knee as he and his other band members were filming a dancing shoot for their debut music video “I Have My Youth”.

He was hospitalized for over three weeks and for four months the other three members of Fahrenheit toured overseas to promote their album without him.

Aaron returned to the band and started to appear more often with the other members after the rumors started to circulate that he had left the group.

Throughout his career, Yan has been honored with various awards for his accomplishment in the music and acting industries. After going solo in 2012 he received the best new artist award in Taiwan.

In 2013 he received the most promising male singer award, viewer’s choice drama award, most popular new artist award, and the best onscreen couple award which he shared with fellow actor Puff Kuo.

Internationally he was voted the best all-around artist by Singapore hit awards in 2014. He has also been feted in mainland China Hong kong and south Korea.

9. He Starred in Taiwanese Television Series

In March 2016, Yan starred in the Taiwanese workplace romance drama, Refresh Man. The drama was a massive hit both domestically as well as across Asia, boosting his popularity to a new high.

Refresh Man is a 2016 Taiwanese television series created by Sanlih E-Television, starring Aaron Yan, Joanne Tseng, Lene Lai, and Jack Lee as the main cast. Filming began on January 27, 2016, and was premiered on March 6, 2016, on channel TTV, Sunday nights at 10:00 pm.

10. He Launched Yan’s Collection in 2020

 On 7 May 2020, Aaron Yan launched his Taiwan mazesoba brand known as Yan’s Collection. The brand consists of dry noodle dishes that originated in Nagoya and was popularized by the ramen chain Menya Hanabi in 2008.

Traditional ingredients of mazesoba include shoyu tare base, aroma oil, menma, shredded nori, and green onions. Other variations also include toppings like raw garlic, raw egg, cheese, and minced meat, which are mixed with the noodles before eating.
