A-Lin is a Taiwanese aboriginal singer and songwriter of Amis descent. She was born on 20 September 1983 in Lingya District, Kaohsiung city.

A-Lin is the youngest in her family. Her parents are Roman Catholics and love music.

Her older sister is Taiwanese model Luji Huang. They also have an older brother. A-Lin’s cousin-in-law is her fitness coach and also a guitarist.

A-Lin made her debut in the world of music at the end of 2006. She achieved rapid commercial success.

A-Lin has performed internationally and at a sold-out concert with Xiao Yu and Shin in 2012 at the Sydney Town Hall.

She released her first album in December 2014. The album was nominated for Best Mandarin Female Singer. A-Lin has won numerous music awards and is extremely popular within the Mandarin-speaking world.

2. She Taught Children to Sing a Hymn at Age 16

In 1999, when A-lin was 16 years old she taught children to sing the hymn “Amazing Grace”. However, after the 921 earthquakes in Nantou county, she was discovered by her former agent.

5. Terminated Her Contract with Avex Taiwan

In 2013 all singers under Avex Taiwan were allowed to terminate their contacts early. The termination was because Avex Taiwan was exiting the market.

This was due to overall poor sales from the records. After terminating her contract, A-Lin signed with the new label Sony Music.

6. She Considers Herself as a Contralto

A-Lin considers herself a Contralto. However, she has been noted to have an extremely wide vocal range.

The vocal is closely identical to that of Amanda Seyfried. Her vocal range has been noted in many of her songs.

However, during the concert in Auckland, New Zealand, she was suffering from illness. This made her unable to hit her falsetto range. She has also notably performed “Remember”, by A-Mei, in infantile speech.

7. Guilt was Her First Album with Sony Music Taiwan

In December 2014, A-Lin released her first album with Sony Music Taiwan. This after leaving Avex. Some of the songs in the album were Gettlewoman and All in.

Additionally, In 2015, she participated in the third season of I Am a Singer. She came in sixth on the finale. The finale was held in March 2015.

A-lin has released several albums in her career. Before her termination with Avex Taiwan, she released seven albums.

Her debut album was Lovelorn, Not Guilty with Avex Taiwan. Other albums under Avex include Before, After, Love, How Should I Go?, Diva, Happiness And Then, We Will Be Better and Loneliness Is Not the Hardest Part.

Additionally, she released several albums with Sony Music Taiwan. This includes LINK, Guilt and A-Lin.

9. Special Appearance in 2018 Film

A-lin made a special appearance in a 2018 Taiwanese romance drama film. The film was known as More than Blue. The drama film was directed by Gavin Lin.

 It was a remake of the 2009 South Korean film of the same name. The film stars Taiwanese actors like Jasper Liu and Ivy Chen. It was released on November 30, 2018.

The film received a warm response. It premiered at the 23rd Busan International Film Festival. This was an open cinema category where tickets sold out within 5 minutes.

10. She was Married to a Well Known Taiwanese Baseball Player

On 1 July 2007, A-Lin married Huang Kan-lin. Huang is well known Taiwanese baseball player. They have a daughter, Huang Qiaoyu.

A-Lin revealed that the first they met, Huang Kan-lin requested the song “How Do I Live” by LeAnn Rimes in her Tainan Pub session.

However, Huang was poor in English, thus he wrote “Good Do A-Lin “ on a piece of paper. He then spelt the song in homophobic Mandarin.

He aimed to chase after A-Lin because of her rich lips. Eventually, Huang Kan-lin proposed to A-Lin successfully by a new recorded song “ (How Love Will Go)”).

A-Lin has been nominated and won several awards in her music career. In 2007, She was nominated as Best New Artist at the 18th Golden Melody Awards.

Additionally, In 2009, she was nominated for Best Mandarin Female singer. This was during the 20th Golden Melody Awards.
