Over 500 interactive exhibits, most of them build by Technorama’s own workshop; invite visitors to ambiguously grasp the world. Technorama offers real authentic experiences that arouse curiosity with no simulations or fakes.

In addition to science shows and demonstrations, there are over 30 workshops in 6 different labs that provide opportunities to get to know phenomena and methods that cannot be conveyed with exhibits alone

2. Over 6,000 Students Visit the Centre Annually

Every year over 60,000 school children in organized groups visit Technorama, making it the most popular out-of-school science learning institution in Switzerland.

The Youth Laboratory at the center comprises chemistry and atom labs, numerous experiment stations for biology, physics, and up-to-date visualization technology. They provide an environment that develops familiarity with quantitative scientific work in a relaxed atmosphere.

The school’s service supports teachers in communicating science, and it is involved in national initiatives aimed at improving science education. In particular, the program is orientated to the primary school sector, where usually are the largest deficits, and it is imperative to enthuse children with scientific and technical ideas as early as possible.

3. The Center Houses the Greatest Toys Collection

Swiss Science Center Technorama houses the world’s number one metal toy collection (Spielzeugeisenbahn-Sammlung Bommer) of miniature rarities, which was established in February 2004.

The exhibition offers an extended exploration of tin plate toy nostalgia and its curiosities, many of them dating from the period around 1900 AD.

Technorama is known to be the home to the world’s greatest toy train collection. The Toy Train Foundation based at the center provides technical and historical aspects of the development of rail transportation in Switzerland.

“Technorama Outdoors” is a popular natural outdoor activity that is best experienced in the open air on the Wonder Bridge. Here, you will discover over thirty new outdoor attractions and experience a multitude of amazing natural phenomena.

The 130-metre-long Wonder Bridge is the centerpiece. It offers breathtaking views and houses a series of impressive exhibits like the Depth Amplifier. It is also a masterpiece of architecture and engineering. Winding paths lead through the rod forest to pretty picnic spots, beautiful meadows, and a large pond.

Other highlights include the impressive and fascinating water exhibits. Whether laminar water flows in the form of Jumping Jets to marvel at or five tonnes of water crashing into the deep: curiosity and enthusiasm are pre-programmed.

5. Play with the Image of Yourself

This special exhibition includes mirrors in all shapes and forms, as well as a composite “Matrix Mirror” that produces strange distortions in your reflection and a non-stop series of surprising effects.

The confusing symmetries, asymmetries, and the apparent left-right-but-not-up-down interchange quickly surpass the limits of human imagination, leaving you surprised and astonished.

 You can also try the Cube to infinity, where you find yourself in what seems to be a giant hall with thousands of images of yourself. Expect a similar experience at the Dual Mirror, where you look into 55 reflections, but never see your neighbor.

6.  The Centre offers Public Workshops

Swiss Science Center Technorama offers daily public workshops in the areas of biology, chemistry, and physics in its state-of-the-art labs. Their spectrum of offers ranges from an initial and more tinkering approach to the sciences.

They do it in the form of simple experiments in the kitchen, to more challenging topics like quantitative methods.

Normally, these workshops are held in German, but they are also done in several other languages at the visitor’s request.

7. Solve Innovative Puzzles

With Technorama’s technical and scientific know-how, they have been able to develop puzzles based on scientific and technological phenomena that are unique throughout the world.

In addition to the innovative puzzles, the center has its two games “SPEKTRUM” & “KONTINUUM” that feature high-quality construction and unexpected technical gimmicks.

The escape Game is another popular activity at the center; you and your team have to escape from a room. You’ll have to find hidden clues, solve puzzles, and prove your skill and team spirit.

8. The Centres offer Facilities for Rental

Whether for seminars, conventions, conferences, team events,  or customer events, the science center offers an exceptional setting. It transforms your event into an unforgettable experience.

Their rented rooms offer ample space for small or larger events and are equipped with modern seminar technology. They include seminar 1 and seminar 2 rooms which have a capacity of 24 people each and seminar room 3 which has a capacity of 50 people.

Other facilities available for rental are the foyer, which has a capacity of 180 people, the auditorium, capacity of 180 people, and the Atrium, with a capacity of 100 people for evening events only.

9 Most of the Exhibitions are Developed In-house

Over the past 20 years, the Swiss Science Center Technorama has gained an excellent reputation around the world. This is due to the outstanding quality and educational function of its exhibitions and individual exhibits. They are developed in-house, with many of the exhibits constructed in their own workshops.

The exhibitions and exhibits from Technorama have been frequently displayed on a loan basis or as replicas in Germany, France, Great Britain, Finland, Russia, and the USA.

More than 20 special exhibitions have been created since 1990. Several of these special programs are available for rent as exhibitions.
