Joseph Drmic is a Swiss professional footballer, a striker in the field for Prva HNL club Dinamo Zagreb and the Switzerland national team.

His football career began with Zurich and later progressed to 1 FC Nurnberg in 2013. In his first Bundesliga season, he impressed his fans and many viewers by scoring 17 goals.

The young footballer has had a full international career since 2012 and he has earned over 30 caps for Switzerland, representing them at the 2012 Olympics and the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.

 1. He has a dual nationality

Drmic was born to ethnic Bosnian Croat parents from Vitez and he was born in Lachen, Canton of Schwyz, therefore he has a dual nationality.

At the age of 16, he applied for Swiss nationality, and he undertook the exam three times in front of commissioners in his home village of Freienbach.

His exams were no piece of cake as his second attempt was rejected on the basis he knew more about Zurich where he spent six years in football school than the village.

This come as a disappointment to the young footballer and he put on a fight and hired a lawyer who made the case that this was acceptable as Zurich is nearby and of importance to the community.

2. He was signed for a 4-year contract by FC Nurnberg in 2013

His field career began at Zurich and he rose through the ranks eventually he was noticed and he finally made his league debut on February 6th, 2010 against Neuchatel Xamax.

It’s here he first scored his first Swiss Super League goal 1_1 against Luzern on February 4th 2012.

In July 2013, he progressed and joined Bundesliga club 1 FC Nurnberg for a contract of four years.

It wasn’t long before he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 2_ 2 draws against Hertha BSC.

His impressive skills were rapidly rushing through the field, and at the end of his first season, he scored 17 league goals, the third most by any player in the league, after Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski and Mario Mandzukic.

3. He was the first Leverkusen to miss a penalty shootout

Many of his fans would agree Drmic is a man of talent and his adventure didn’t stop FC Nurnberg.

He moved to Bayer Leverkusen on 12 May 2014, where he signed a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

He made his debut on 19 August when he came in as an 88th-minute substitute for Hakan Calhanoglu.

The side accomplished the first win,3_2 against Copenhagen in the first leg of their UEFA Championship League playoff.

On 29 November, Drmic appeared as a half-time replacement for Stephen Kiebling and saw a 5_1 win over Wolfsburg.

His second brace for the team occurred on 13th March 2015, where he added his fifth and sixth goals of the league season in a 4_ 0 home win against VFB Stuttgart.

He gained a negative badge by becoming the only Leverkusen player to miss in the penalty shootout against Bayern Munich on 8th April.

Drmic joined his third Bundesliga club, Borussia Monchengladbach on a four-year deal. In his first round of DFB_Pokal for the team, he started with a 4_1 at FC St Pauli.

Drmic was sadly ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury and a muscle tear. In 2018 _19 Bundesliga he played only five times and scored twice.

5.He scored the equalizer in 2020

Drmic joined Norwich City on transfer on June 25th, 2019. He made his debut for the team by coming in as an 83rd-minute substitute for Teemu Pukki in a 4_ 1 loss at the European Champions Liver pool.

Drmic scored the equalizer on 4th March 2020, Norwich drew 1_1 away to Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

He won on penalties to reach the last eight of the tournament, a record for the first time since 1992.

6.He was loaned to Rijeka

Drmic was handed on loan to Rijeka on February 5th, 2021 until the end of the 2020 _21 season. His first goal was United on March 17th in a 3_1 victory over Slaven Belupo.

In the season’s national cup, he had three appearances, opening a 3_1 loss to Adriatic rivals Hajduk Split in the final.

7.He has played for Dinamo Zagreb

Drmic joined the Club of Dinamo Zagreb on 77th June 2022. He was handed squad number 18 and kicked his debut on 9th July, his appearance came strong during a penalty shootout victory over the split in the Super Cup.

He scored twice in a 3_2 home win against rivals Lokomotiva Zagreb.

8.He was denied a FIFA U _ 17 World cup

Drmic was denied a FIFA U _17 World Cup winners medal due to not securing Swiss citizenship in time.

Despite this, he represented his country at a youth level as well as the summer Olympics in London before embarking on his international career.

9.He has one sibling

Josip Drmic has one brother, Igor Drmic, who was the former manager of FCL Lenzenburg 2017_19.

10.He has a limited dating experience

While he is very experienced on the football field, Josi’s love life isn’t as exciting as his career.

As of 2022, he is confirmed to not date anyone and like most celebrities, he has kept the previous one he had secretive, away from the public eyes.
