Vincent Perez is a Swiss actor, director, and photographer who was born on June 10, 1964. In The Crow: City of Angels, he played the title character, Ashe Corven, and in Queen of the Damned, he played Marius de Romanus. Cyrano de Bergerac, Le Bossu, La Reine Margot, and Indochine are some of his films in French cinema.

Perez was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, to a Spanish father and a German mother. His mother was a housewife, and his father was an import-exporter. He began his acting studies in Geneva, then attended the CNSAD and finished his training at the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers. He began his career in theater before moving on to film.

1. Vincent Perez is not French

One thing you should know about Vincent Perez right away is that he is not French. Despite his birthplace of Lausanne, Switzerland, where French is spoken, he is of Spanish and German descent. He was the second of three children.  Though his father wanted him to study business, Vincent had other plans, and when he was eighteen, he left Switzerland and moved to France with the encouragement of his mother.

He considered becoming a sculptor, painter, or photographer before settling on acting. He decided not to be an artist because he was afraid of being alone. It was a way for him to deal with his fears. He was extremely shy and dissatisfied with his life.

Vincent Perez wanted to be an actor since he was seven years old after seeing a Charlie Chaplin film. In him, he recognized himself.  Vincent describes himself as a shy, accident-prone young man. He was drawn to acting, however, because of the laughs he got from impersonating teachers and classmates for his family.

3. His acting career began at the age of 17

Vincent’s acting career began at the age of 17 when he pursued dramatic studies at the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Geneva and then in Âé¶¹APP. He has appeared in over fifty films for both the big screen and television. He also attended the Nanterre Ecole des Amandiers. Following his stage work, Vincent starred in his first film, “Gardien de la nuit,” in 1986.

Vincent expressed an interest in directing and staged plays with his friends when he was in his teens. Later, in drama school, he became interested in both acting and directing. His breakthrough role was in Cyrano de Bergerac, where he played Christian opposite Gérard Depardieu.

He received a César Award nomination. He has since appeared in a number of films. Likewise, he appeared on television in Âé¶¹APP enquêtes criminelles, a French remake of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Lieutenant Vincent Revel was played by Perez.

At the age of 27, he made his directorial debut with the short film “L’echange.” That and Rien à dire, have been nominated for the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or.

He directed his first feature-length film in 2002, “The Secret” three years later, and “Alone in Berlin” in 2015.

5. Vincent’s first love was photography

When he was fifteen, he enrolled in the Ecole des Art Appliques at Centre Doret in Vevey, Switzerland. He decided to switch to acting two years later. In 2011, he had a photography exhibition in Russia called “From Vladivostok to Âé¶¹APP,” and since then, he has had several exhibitions in France.

He has shown his photography at festivals and in art galleries. For example, his Face to Face exhibition, which featured photographs of Carla Bruni, Johnny Hallyday, and Gérard Depardieu, debuted at Rencontres d’Arles, France’s annual photography festival.

In December 2012, he exhibited photographs of Bolshoi Ballet dancers at the RuArts in Moscow, Russia. He exhibited them again two years later, in December 2014, at the Accademia Fine Art Gallery in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

6. Vincent Perez is also a writer

Vincent published a volume in his comic book series, “La Fôret,” a children’s fantasy based on Celtic tales, for four years in a row (2007-2010). In May 2011, he also co-authored the travel book “Le Âé¶¹APP du cinéma.” He wrote the script for his short film “L’échange” and co-wrote the scripts for his films “Peau d’ange” and “Alone in Berlin” as a screenwriter.

7. He has an estimated net worth of $145 million

The Swiss actor is estimated to be worth $145 million. He made his fortune through wise stock investments, large property holdings, and lucrative endorsement deals with Cover Girl cosmetics. He also owns several restaurants in Berne (the “Fat Pérez Burger” chain), a football team (the “Lausanne Angels”), his own vodka brand (Pure Wonderpérez – Switzerland), and is attempting to break into the juniors market with a best-selling perfume (With Love from Vincent) and a fashion line called “Vincent Pérez Seduction.”

8. In 2022, Vincent Perez topped the annual list of highest-paid actors

58-year-old Vincent Pérez has risen to the top of People With Money’s list of the top ten highest-paid actors for 2022.

In 2020, it appeared that the actor’s illustrious career was coming to an end. He was suddenly back on top. According to People With Money, Pérez is the highest-paid actor in the world, earning $46 million between August 2021 and August 2022, a nearly $20 million advantage over his closest competitor.

9. Vogue magazine has featured Vincent Perez

As a long-time fashion fan, it was a natural progression to work in front of the camera for magazines. In 1992, he did a Vogue Hommes spread and won over the editorial staff. He has collaborated on four IKKS ad campaigns with actress Virginie Ledoyen since 2010. Daughter Iman, who has chosen a modeling career, is more likely to be seen at fashion shows these days.

10. Vincent Perez has three children

He is married to Karine Silla, a French actress and ex-partner of Gérard Depardieu, and the sister of French producer Virginie Besson-Silla.  Perez and Silla have three children, one of whom is model Iman Perez.
