Noémie Schmidt was born on November 18th, 1990. She is a Swiss actress best known for her roles in television and film, most notably Henrietta of England in Âé¶¹APP (2015–2017). Her performance in The Student and Mister Henri (2015) earned her the Prix Premiers Rendez-vous (Best Newcomer) at the 2016 Cabourg Film Festival, as well as a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actress the same year.

Her previous films include For This Is My Body (2015) and Radin! (2016), as well as the television films Daddy’s Little Girl (2014) and Le premier été (2014).

1. She attended the Lassaad International School of Theatre in Brussels

She moved to Brussels after visiting the United States, where she studied theatre at the Lassaad International School of Theatre and taught children to sing at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie.

2. Noemie Schmidt made her screen debut in 2012

She  Ewa Brykalska’s short film Coda in 2012. Her performance was praised, and she won several awards at short film festivals. She made her television debut in 2013 with Mary Higgins Clark’s Toi que j’aimais tant, followed by Marion Sarraut’s Le premier été in 2014.

That same year, she made her feature film debut in Victor Emmanuel Boinem’s La Fille sûre. In 2015, she won the title role in The Student and Mister Henri, alongside Claude Brasseur. The film earned her a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actress and the Prix Premiers Rendez-vous (Best Newcomer) at the 2016 Cabourg Film Festival. She stared as Henrietta of England in Canal’s Âé¶¹APP.

3. Schmidt became interested in performing at a young age

Schmidt, the daughter of a lawyer and a biologist, became interested in performing at a young age. From 2004 to 2008, she sang in the Schola de Sion choir in Valais, Switzerland, honing her vocal technique and gaining classical singing training. She moved to Brussels after visiting the United States, where she studied theater at the Lassaad International School of Theatre and taught children to sing at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie.

When she was a child, she would climb the [castle] stairs with her parents and fantasize about her dress flowing over the stairs on the way down. She now has the opportunity to do so on a regular basis in the international hit aired on Ovation. The Swiss actress plays Henriette, an English princess married to Philippe, Duke of Orléans.

Schmidt, who now lives in Âé¶¹APP, had never been to Âé¶¹APP before the series began filming. She’s a little embarrassed about it, but she shouldn’t be. She appears to be perfectly at home in the court of King Louis XIV, Philippe’s brother and her character’s lover.

In 2017, Interparfums, which owns the Rochas brand, chose Swiss actress Noémie Schmidt to be the face of the fashion, beauty, and perfume house’s latest women’s fragrance.

Interparfums purchased the Rochas fashion, beauty, and perfume house in 2015, the brand’s 90th anniversary year. Rochas has created a plethora of perfumes, many of which have achieved legendary status and have remained popular over the years. “Femme,” for example, debuted in 1944, and “Madame Rochas” debuted in 1960.

6. In an experimental film, Noemie Schmidt is both an actress and a screenwriter

Between 2014 and 2017, she was a member of the artist collective that produced the experimental film “Âé¶¹APP est à nous.” A feature film with a very low budget, obtained through crowdfunding, that takes the form of a constant immersion in a capital that is now under siege as a result of the attacks.

The film was purchased by Netflix in 2019, allowing the collective to embark on a new experimental project. “1920s” is a manifesto film that immortalizes Âé¶¹APP during its liberation. It tells the story of a young man and his time and promises the longest sequence shot in French cinema history.

This film, for which Noémie Schmidt is both an actress and a screenwriter, has yet to be released in theaters, but it has already won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, where it had its world premiere.

7. She doesn’t see the world as a race

She doesn’t feel defeated if she goes to an audition with 500 other people and is not accepted. If another actress gets the part, whether through bribery or sleeping with the producer, she tells herself that the role wasn’t meant for her.

8. Noemie Schmidt is an ambassador for Patouch

She believes Switzerland is falling behind in terms of women’s rights and sex education in schools. Sex, emotion, and male dominance in society are all important topics to discuss with children, according to her.

Every year, over 14,000 minors in French-speaking Switzerland are victims of various forms of violence. Patouch prevention programs improve social skills (fear management, self-confidence, etc.) and reduce the appearance of violent behavior. They are among the most effective methods of preventing youth violence.

9. Many of her idols come from the 70s

The 1970s fascinate her because they got a lot of going. One of her favorite films is “Hair,” and a photo of Bob Dylan hangs on her bedroom door. The backlash against 1950s conservatism was fierce. 

Noémie Schmidt feels like one can not express one’s sexuality back then, and homosexuals were excluded. When it comes to marriage and having children, one today feels much more liberated and under less pressure. She feels like she has the ability to become pregnant at any time.

10. Schmidt is an animal lover

She has a very strong, instinctive bond with animals. Not only that, but she thinks they’re smart. She had the opportunity to grow up surrounded by many exotic animals-including rats.

Noémie Schmidt purchased a farm in the Dordogne with the help of artist friends. A space that will be made available to other artists and will give them freedom and independence, allowing them to continue to create, think, and reflect in new ways.
