Mirka Federer is a Swiss former professional tennis player who was born on 1st April 1978 in Bojnice Czechoslovakia. She was born in a family where her parents were in the jewelry business.

Mirka Federer is however the only child of her parent thus she was always in the company of her parents and rarely seen with friends. After Mirka Federer was born, her parent relocated to Switzerland to look for a better life for themselves and their children.

Her parents led a humble life which modeled her as she grew up and she is still very thankful to them even in her present wealth and lifestyle.

Her love for tennis dates back to when she was still a child. She was also married to a world-class tennis player, Roger Federer having met during the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Mirka however retired from playing tennis in 2002 due to a consistent foot injury having been ranked among the top 100 players.

1. Mirka was Inspired by Martina Navratilova While she was Very Young

Her father took her to watch a tournament which took place at Filderstadt in Germany. During the event, she was able to meet Martina Navratilova who told her that she looked athletic and she should try tennis.

After the event, Mirka committed her childhood to honing her great skills as a tennis player.

Martina gifted her a racquet which was the only gift she ever received before meeting her husband.

2. She was the Most Promising Woman Tennis Player in Switzerland

When Mirka Federer was in her prime, she was featured as the most promising tennis player in entire Switzerland. She was a great surprise to a variety of people on how she rose to high heights in tennis in a short span.

She reached the top of her career by being ranked 76th during the world WTA rankings. She received the ranking in both singles and doubles when she had just begun her professional career.

3. Mirka was Very Committed to Representing her Country in Tennis

After Mirka Federer met the professional tennis player at the age of nine she committed her childhood life to practice. She practiced for several hours on the tennis court just fueling her desire to play.

She however underwent various struggles and hardships as she committed to work on her career.

She had several challenges in her finances including emotional disturbances. However, this did not stop her from pursuing her career as she eventually represented her country in the late 90s in the professional tennis arena.

Mirka had a long and successful career as a tennis play and this didn’t halt her from having huge fan followers. She began her career in tennis in her early to mid-nineties when she began to play in various tournaments around the world.

1n 1997, Mirka managed to win the competitive Tel Aviv tennis championship. Later on, she also won the clear water tennis open which was a breakthrough for her to be selected for the national Olympics team in 2000.

Mirka Federer reached the ultimate prime of her career during the third quarter of 2001. This was when she reached the third round of one of the most respectable tennis events worldwide the United State Open.

This catapulted her to be featured among the top 100 for the first time since she began her career.

She however crashed out of the tournament during the third round. Although she lost in the third round, her style of playing was however so spectacular.

7. Her Injury Led her to an Early Retirement in Sports

In 2002, Mirka Federer shared a court with Roger Federer, her husband during the Hopman cup tennis which was a mixed double court.

This was one of her last matches in tennis as she finally opened up about her injury which sent her on early retirement.

After Mirka Federer met with Roger Federer during the 2000 summer Olympics, they both dated for an entire decade. Their relationship was the talk of the town and they eventually tied their knots in 2009.

The wedding ceremony was held in Wenkenhof villa in Reiher and was attended by their close friends and relatives. In the same year they got married, they welcomed two beautiful twins namely, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva.

Although Mirka Federer retired from tennis due to an injury she has been the strongest support to her talented husband. Despite her being much occupied with taking care of their children, Mirka also travels with him on every competition trip.
