1. Sofia is of mixed ethnicity

Sofia was born on 27th September 1969 in Zurich, Switzerland. She is of mixed ethnicity as her father was of Italian descent and her mother was Greek. She grew up in Switzerland in her early years until her family moved to Rome, Italy.

While in Switzerland, she developed a taste for good chocolates and fine watches and often heard about France from her nanny. She is known to have a sibling brother named Pino Milos. His family is settled in Rome and she currently lives in the USA.

2. She received the title Junior Lady Italy

She started her career at a very early age when she started taking part in beauty pageants in her early teen years. At the age of 14, she entered her first pageant and won first place.

She later went on to participate in other local and national level pageants and won various titles. Throughout the year, she went on to win first prize in the provincial, regional and national contests as well, receiving the title Junior Lady in Italy.

3. Sofia became a professional model at 15

Though she wouldn’t begin acting until later in life, she won a beauty contest at the age of 14, beginning a successful modelling career a year later. When she was 15, Milos became a professional model.

Her modelling career was so successful that the money she earned modelling throughout France, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States paid for her education at the School of Business and Economics in Switzerland.

She made modelling her profession, which she did for 10 years with various magazines, brands etc.

4. She studied business and economics

Sofia has not shared much about her early education but it is known that she studied business and economics in a local school in Switzerland. She learned the French language from her nanny while at school. She also attended other schools in Italy and Greece over the years.

As she wanted to become an actress she went on to train and study acting under her mentor Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills playhouse. It is at Beverly Hill playhouse under Milton Katselas that she travelled the world for work and pleasure and learned from life for 13 intense years of her life.

5. Sofia first came to New York when she was 19

After her education in Switzerland, Milos decided to take up residence in the United States at only 19 years old. She spent time living in New York before settling in Los Angeles.

6. Sofia made her film debut in “Over the Line”

Her film debut came in Over the Line, an independent feature starring Kris Kristofferson and Lesley-Anne Down. Milos primarily worked in theatre classes until 1993, when she made her television debut when she was cast in Cafe` American, NBC’s short-lived sitcom co-starring Valerie Bertinelli and Maurice Godin.

Though the show wasn’t a hit, the right people noticed her potential and Milos began racking up an impressive television resume.

7. Sofia has starred in numerous films since her debut

Since moving to Los Angeles, Milos has appeared in numerous film and television roles. There was Yelena Salas on CSI: Miami and Camorra Boss, Annalisa Zucca on The Sopranos. Other television series she co-starred in include: Curb your Enthusiasm, Friends, ER, Criminal Minds Beyond Borders and Chicago Justice. Milos also worked internationally on the Belgian series, Section De Recherché.

Sofia starred in the feature film “Passionada, “directed by Dan Ireland. In 2020, Sofia joined the cast of Robert Zemeckis’ highly rated UFO drama “Project blue book” as Daria, which can be seen on the History channel.

8. She is best known for her role in CSI Miami

The Swiss-born Italian/Greek actress is best known for her role as Yelena Salas on CSI: Miami. She started her career as an actor in 1992 when she was just 23 years old. Soon, she became more successful in her profession within a limited period, where she influenced people on the bases of her career and earned a lot of fame.

After a while, her career completed a full circle as she gained more importance. The breakthrough came when she was cast in the show CSI: Miami in the recurring role of detective Yelena Salas in 2003. She appeared in the character till season 3 of the show in 2009.

9. She once dated the mayor of San Francisco

In 2006, she dated Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom. The two were reportedly introduced to each other by former supervisor Angela Alioto at the wedding of Alioto’s son, the police commissioner, Joe Veronese.
