Talmuseum Ursern is located in one of the patrician’s most beautiful houses that are situated in Ursern. The house was constructed in 1786 by the Valley Mayor known as Franz Dominik Nager.

He built the house to use it as a home as well as a commercial premise but the house is said to have also been used as headquarters by the Russian General Suvorov in 1799.

The main purpose of the museum was to preserve and provide insight into the history and culture of the Ursern Valley. The museum is worth a visit not just because of the exhibitions it displays but also for the house itself.

The house is the most beautiful in the valley and it also stands just at the heart of the village. The museum was however opened after a massive renovation was carried out in the building in 1991.

The house was also referred to as “Suworow house” because it was spacious enough and was also used as headquarters by the Russian field Marshall known as Suworow.

The house however underwent a massive renovation before it was finally opened as a museum.
