Penélope Cruz Sánchez is a Spanish actress. Known for her roles in films of several genres, particularly those in the Spanish language.

She has received various accolades, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award, in addition to nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Known outside her native country as the Spanish enchantres Penélope Cruz Sánchez was born in Madrid to Eduardo Cruz, a retailer, and Encarna Sánchez, a hairdresser.

When she was a toddler, she was already a compulsive performer, re-enacting TV commercials for her family’s amusement, but she decided to focus her energies on dance.

The Spanish actress 37 won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in the Woody Allen-directed movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Penelope decided not to change her upside name on her Oscar award as a tribute to her father who died of a heart attack.

Her father Eduardo has offered to personalize her statue she failed to do so that night but accidentally put it upside down.
