Think of Slovenia and you will be at once imported to a land of snow-capped peaks, turquoise green rivers, and a pristine landscape! Agreed, very few things in the world beat the rural, rustic charm of this European country.

But if you think that the greatness of the land is limited to its physical charms, hold on! This pretty country is home to some fine men and women who have perhaps earned more distinction than the wine of the land.

Be it, Olympic medalists, cartographers, film directors, opera singers, actuaries, historians, activists, geographers, comedians, philologists, painters, diplomats, or politicians, the Slovenians have inscribed their greatness in the history of the world like very few other countries.

Yugoslav Communist Revolutionary and the Chief Architect of the ‘Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia’. He was born on 5^th May 1892 in Kumrovec, Croatia.

Josip Broz Tito served as the prime minister of Yugoslavia from 1944 to 1963 and as its president from 1953 to 1980. He was also the Marshal of Yugoslavia. During World War II, he led the Partisans. He was also one of the main figures behind the Non-Aligned Movement.

Slavoj 沤i啪ek is a Slovenian philosopher whose works on subjects, such as continental philosophy, Marxism, Hegelianism, and psychoanalysis, have gained him international influence. Often dubbed a celebrity philosopher and Elvis of cultural theory, 沤i啪ek was named in Foreign Policy’s Top 100 Global Thinkers list in 2012. His work has had an impact on widespread public audiences and academics.

A former model as well as timepiece and jewelry designer, Melania Trump is the wife of 45th US President Donald Trump and the current First Lady of the United States of America. The Slovenian-American is only the second foreign-born and the first naturalized citizen to hold the title.

Luka Don膷i膰 is a basketball player. He was born on 28^th February 1999 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Luka Don膷i膰 is a Slovenian basketball player best known for his association with Dallas Mavericks with which he has won the NBA All-Star thrice so far.

He is also known for leading Real Madridto the Euro League title in 2018. Luka Don膷i膰 is also an important player for the Slovenian national team.

He is also credited with leading his national team to its maiden FIBA EuroBasket title in 2017. The same year, he was named Slovenian Sportsman of the Year.

Primo啪 Rogli膷 is a Slovenian racing cyclist who in 2017 became the first cyclist from his country to win a stage atTour de France. He then went on to win the Vuelta an Espa帽a for three successive years.

Primo啪 Rogli膷 achieved international recognition at the 2020 Olympic Games where he won the gold medal in the time trial event.

An啪e Kopitar is a Slovene ice hockey player and the current captain of the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL. Since becoming the first Slovene to play in the National Hockey League in 2006, Kopitar has made his presence felt in the professional ice hockey league. In 2012 and 2014, An啪e Kopitar helped the Kings win the prestigious Stanley Cup.
