JJ Lin is nothing short of what Margaret Schaper describes as an Icon and a flawless singer.

Wayne Lin Junjie well known by his stage name JJ Lin, is a Singaporean songwriter, record producer, singer and actor. Born on 27 March 1981 to a Kim 鈥� M没i Hokkien family.  Lin was a member of the Singapore Armed forces and attended Saint Andrew鈥檚 Junior college before he launched his musical career by releasing his debut album Music Voyager.

With popular albums like Music Voyager and 600 Days under his name, JJ has gained a reputable status in the music world. He has also participated in Tv shows such as Hanazakarino Kimitachihe as an actor similarly starring in the Chinese thriller The Secret.

1. His family and friends address him as Wayne

Despite JJ Lin standing out to be his name to the general population, his friends and family address him as Wayne. JJ鈥檚 English name is Wayne. His full Anglo/Chinese name is Wayne Lin Junjie but he goes by the stage name JJ, an abbreviation of Junjie.

2.He is insecure about revealing his forehead

JJ feels unconfident without his fringe as noticed that he usually sports his signature fringe in most if not all of his pictures posted online. Moreover, he covers his forehead or wears a cap to hide his forehead and this has been his trend ever since he began his musical career.

3. JJ is a 3- time Golden Melody Award winner

Lin has received three Golden melody awards in total, including one Best new artist award in 2004 just a year after he debuted. He then proceeded to bag the Best Mandarin Male singer award twice, in 2014 and 2016

JJ has been nominated several times, not only for his vocal prowess but also for his producing and composing works over the years.

4.  Lin is a family man

The Taiwan-based singer might have been away from home for a very long period, but he has constantly been missing his family. His mum frequently appears on his social media feed and they are often seen doing regular family stuff such as tea, travelling and karaoke sessions.

At JJ鈥檚 Lin鈥檚 Timeline: Genesis World Tour homecoming concert held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in September 2015, JJ invited three members on stage to perform with him; his father, his mother and his brother.

5.  He is a Guinness world record-breaker

In 2007, he autographed a total of 3,052 CDs in 2 hours and 30 minutes. He did it without resting and on average, signed a CD in 2.7 seconds. He broke the Guinness world record for the most CDs consecutively signed by an artist without eating and drinking during the entire session.

6.  JJ is pretty spontaneous

He proved to be spontaneous when back in 2015 while he was out shopping, He heard a Taiwanese busker singing his song River south. Impressed by it he jumped in for an impromptu duet and later on declared it a 鈥渟uccess鈥�, quipping: 鈥淟et鈥檚 continue shopping. 鈥淭he clip went viral online subsequently getting over four million views.

7. He has his lifestyle brand, SMUDGE

SMUDGE or SMG is an acronym for 鈥淪till Moving Under Gun Fire鈥� born from Lin鈥檚 passion for fashion, pop art and the street scene. SMG recognizes life鈥檚 stressful moments, it also recognizes the stressful moments and volatile nature of life and how one feels unmotivated.

The brands main message encourages us to still move on despite feeling either 鈥渦nder gunfire鈥� at times鈥� on our daily grind, and aims to reflect these beliefs into the design of their products.

SMUDGE was officially launched in March 2009.

8. Lin speaks 5 languages

Born in Singapore, JJ speaks the official language of Malay and also speaks his mother鈥檚 native dialect of Hokkien as well as Mandarin, Cantonese and English. In addition to English, JJ uses Mandarin, and Cantonese to sing and record his music.

Lin is an ambassador for Singapore鈥檚 tourism board where he鈥檚 the face for tourists from foreign countries to make them have an interest in visiting Singapore. He was appointed to Singapore鈥檚 tourism board because of his great outreach both onscreen and off-screen ,this gives him ample opportunity to heap sustainable praises for his homeland.

JJ Lin鈥檚 quest in his musical journey is nothing short of a spectacle making him one of the greatest artists to trace their origin back to Singapore. Taiwan-based music streaming app KKBOX鈥橲 editor once listed five reasons why JJ Lin should be hailed as an official national treasure of Singapore for his feats and contribution to Music.
