Julia returned to Singapore after the death of her father while she was still six years old. Before that, Julia Nickson spent her early years in the vales of Wiltshire, England followed by a brief stay at the red rock canyons of the Zambezi river in Africa.
3. Julia was involved in athletics in her high school years

Julia was a top competitor in all events, winning numerous three-day shows and lower Division polo tournaments. However, her most excellent satisfaction came during her last two bouts as a jockey in 1976, when at just 17, she placed and then won her final two races at the Singapore Turf Club.
4. She intended to study Hotel Management
Julia graduated early from the Singapore American school and joined the University of Hawaii. Although intending to enroll to study Hotel management while passing the Drama department, she gate crushed auditions where she auditioned and won a role in her first play, Shakespeare’s, “Winter’s Tale.”
All her desires to be in the hotel industry made a prompt vanishing and Nickson’s stage debut was subsequently followed by voice, dance and acting classes and attending small roles in community theatre and on Magnum PI.
5. She preferred playing T’ SU than Cassandra in Star Trek
During the catching up with TNG and DS9 interview, Julia was asked to choose between her first portrayal of Ensign T’SU in the Next Generation hour, “The Arsenal of Freedom” and the guest appearance in the Deep Space Nine instalment, “Paradise” as Cassandra.
