Hassan Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel is a Saudi businessman and philanthropist. He is Deputy President and Vice Chairman of Saudi Arabia operations of the family-owned international business.

Hassan is the middle son of Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, who has been the chairman and president of the diversified international business Abdul Latif Jameel since 1993. His grandfather, Abdul Latif Jameel, (1909–1993), founded the prestigious company in 1945.

This company is known to be one of the biggest and wealthiest. Hassan handles the work in the company with his father, who is the president and chairman. He heads the domestic operations of Abdul Latif Jameel in Saudi Arabia and is responsible for operations such as automotive, land and real estate, and machinery.

He is responsible for Abdul Latif Jameel’s expansion into the mobility sector, forging strategic partnerships with key players including electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian and US green mobility initiative CoMotion. He also participated in ALJ’s investment in US electric air taxi start-up Joby Aviation.

Its wealth went up in 2021 by 11.5 billion after it invested in electric truck-maker Rivian Automotive Inc. The firm has made its wealth on petrol-fuelled cars but went ahead to stake on the electronic mobiles that are becoming the future. The firm is the third-largest investor in Rivian, with a stake worth about $3.5 billion.

Hassan advocates for the future of sustainable mobility. This includes the Jameel Family’s investments in electric vehicle manufacturer RIVIAN and electric flying taxi service Joby Aviation. 

Through him, the firm has claimed battery-powered vehicles, this time investing in two- and three-wheeler vehicles in India. India, the world’s fourth-largest automobile market, is pushing to decarbonize transport and achieve a goal of turning net carbon zero by 2070.

He is Vice Chairman of Community Jameel in Saudi Arabia, a consortium of Abdul Latif Jameel philanthropies. It was established to continue the Jameel Family’s tradition of philanthropy, using science to help communities thrive in a rapidly changing world.  It has seen breakthroughs and innovations in the fields of education, health, and climate.

His philanthropy work promotes health and safety, and assists job-seekers and those in need in Saudi Arabia.

Hassan was heavily involved in Community Jameel’s road safety initiative, which aimed to promote safe driving through education and awareness campaigns in Saudi Arabia. He is also involved in humanitarian programs with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Hassan has been working across the Saudi-Japanese business landscape for more than a decade. He has served as a member of the UTokyo Global Advisory Board at the University of Tokyo since 2016. In his role, he brings his combined experience in international business leadership and a strong and long-standing Japanese network.

Hassan sits on several professional boards including Abdul Latif Jameel, Rivian, the US electric vehicle manufacturer, and is a member of the MIT School of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council.

Hassan is also an advisor to CoMotion, a strategic consultancy that builds customer-led businesses. He is also a founding member of the Family Business Council – Gulf, which supports the growth and development of family businesses in the region.

Hassan is a lover of art and collects art. He helps his uncle in managing the organization. The program built Jameel Arts Centre. The center produces exhibitions and works that challenge audiences to think about their world.

In 2004, he trained at the Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan in their domestic kaizen department. Kaizen is a concept referring to business activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers.
