Robson de Souza who is more commonly known as Robinho. He has been a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Robinho  was born in 1984in São Vicente, São Paulo State.He has played for professional football clubs, such as ‘Real Madrid,’ ‘Manchester City,’ and ‘A.C. Milan.’

Robinho started playing football at a young age and was eventually spotted by Brazilian legend Pele, who got him his first professional contract. He had started his career with ‘Santos FC’ and then managed to strike a deal with the Spanish club ‘Real Madrid’ in 2005. Robinho played for ‘Real Madrid’ for more than two years during which he won two titles, before joining ‘Manchester City’ in 2008.

In 2010, he started playing for ‘A.C. Milan’ and bagged the prestigious ‘Italian Serie A’ title. In 2015, he participated in the ‘Chinese Super League’ and helped his team win the tournament. The following year, he signed a two-year contract with the Brazilian football club ‘Atletico Mineiro.’ As an international footballer, Robinho has represented his country at two ‘FIFA World Cups.’ He has also won two ‘FIFA Confederations Cups’ and a ‘Copa America’ title while playing for his national football team. In 2018, he signed a contract with the Turkish club ‘Sivasspor.’

Robinho developed a liking for football in his early childhood. He became the leader of his indoor football team at a very young age and scored 73 goals in his first season.

Robinho caught the attention of the Brazilian great, Pele, When he was just 15 years old. Pele helped him strike a contract with ‘Santos FC’ and also named him as his heir apparent. Robinho was just 18 years old when he started playing for the club’s senior team.

2. He was named in Brazil’s squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany

During the tournament, he was mainly used as a substitute, with the established forwards Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Adriano and Kaká starting in attack. However, he was named in the starting line-up for Brazil’s third group match; a 4–1 defeat of Japan. He made a third substitute appearance of the tournament in Brazil’s 1–0 quarter-final defeat by France.

3. Robinho won the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa

In 2009, he was a member of the Brazil team that won the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa. He played in every game in the competition, as Brazil defeated the United States 3–2 in the final to win the tournament.

4. He has scored 73 goals in one season

In one season, Robinho scored an amazing 73 goals. He continued playing indoor samba football until he signed his first professional contract with Santos FC in 2002 at the age of 18.

5. He won his 100th international cap in 2017

Robinho won his 100th international cap in2017 in a 1–0 win against Colombia at the Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. This was eighteen months after his 99th game.An entirely home-based squad was chosen in tribute to the Chapecoense squad killed in LaMia Flight 2933 in Colombia weeks earlier. And Robinho had lined up alongside his former Santos partner Diego.

6. Robinho became the highest scorer in Brazil  after scoring 25 goals

He signed a two-year contract with ‘Atletico Mineiro.’ During his stay with ‘Atletico Mineiro,’ he scored 25 goals to become the highest scorer in Brazil for the year 2016.

Robinho  also scored   a goal in the 2017 Campeonato Mineiro final over rivals Cruzeiro, which secured Atlético the title. He left the club at the expiry of his contract in December 2017, having scored a total of 38 goals in 109 matches.

7. He made 37 appearances and scored 14 goal in his first season in Real Madrid

When he signed with Real Madrid Robinho was given the number 10 shirt for Real Madrid. That was previously worn by Luís Figo. Robinho ended up making 37 appearances and scored 14 goals in his first season.

At the start of the 2006–07 season, Robinho spent much of the first few months of the season selected as a substitute by manager Fabio Capello, even after being Man of the Match in the first Clásico against Barcelona that year.

Only after the winter break did Robinho find himself in the starting XI, later playing a crucial role as Real Madrid won their 30th La Liga title that year. The title was the third league championship of his career.

8. Robinho has been considered as Real Madrid’s third-highest scorer during his Madrid years

Robinho was Real Madrid’s third-highest scorer during his Madrid years behind strikers Raúl and Ruud van Nistelrooy. He was also the player with the second-most assists, behind Guti, and the only Madrid player, along with goalkeeper Iker Casillas, to finish in the top ten of the Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year nominations for 2007–08.

9. He finished the season in Manchester City as a top goal scorer with 14 and the fourth top scorer in the league

Robinho scored his 13th league goal for Manchester City in the 2–1 win away at Everton. It was Manchester City’s first away win since 2008. The following week, he scored his third consecutive goal in three games, against Blackburn Rovers, to help Manchester City to a 3–1 win.

10. Robinho also won the Chinese Super League in the 2015 season

In 2015, Robinho had signed a six-month contract with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao. He was being managed by compatriot Luiz Felipe Scolar and linking up with his international teammate Paulinho. He had made his unofficial debut for Guangzhou in an international friendly against Bayern Munich in 2015. And he won the Chinese Super League in the 2015 season.
