Dmitry Glukhovsky was born on 12 June 1979 in Moscow, Russia. he is a writer, journalist, and radio host.
His parents are Alexey Glukhovsky and Larisa Smirnova. He is widely known for his science fiction novel Metro 2033 and its sequels.
He is currently living outside Russia, and he is on the Russian federal wanted list for criticism of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The writer was married to Elena Glukhovskaya, the couple had two children together. Dmitry revealed he and Elena divorced earlier in 2020.

Dmitry conceived the idea for the post-apocalyptic novel Metro 2033 at the age of 15, long before he graduated from school.
He began writing Metro 2033 as his first novel at the age of 18 and then published it on his website in 2002.
First published in print form in 2005, the book and its sequels turned into a multimedia franchise including a video game series.
Since then, Dmitry has written and published 8 fiction books in his writing career, putting himself among the top fiction writers around the world.
2. Dmitry Glukhovsky Studied in Israel

At the age of 17, Dmitry left Russia to study in Israel, where lived for four and a half years.
Dmitry attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem and graduated with a degree in Journalism and International Relations.
He also completed a degree course in Hebrew, a native language widely spoken by Jewish communities in Israel.
The choice to study in Israel was because his father was Jewish, and he had some familiarity with Judaism.
Israel Universities were also less expensive than universities in the west.
3. Dmitry Glukhovsky Worked as a Journalist

From 2002 to 2007, he worked at the global European media platform EuroNews in Lyon, France.
After working in France for five years, he returned to Russia and continued his career at the newly-created Russia Today, where he worked for three years.
He has also worked with the German radio station Deutsche Welle and the British television channel Sky news.
Among major assignments he undertook are covering the 2006 Lebanon war as a war correspondent, and visiting the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster.

Dmitry Glukhovsky is a fierce critic of the Russian federal government, with his social media posts and articles on social media platforms.
He also writes political articles in western media newspapers, questioning Russian President Vladamir Putin’s human rights records.
He was one of few Russian Nationals to criticize his country’s invasion of a neighboring country Ukraine in 2022.
Dmitry also supports and calls for the release of jailed Russian opposition figure and anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny.
Alexei Navalny was jailed for nine years with corruption and anti-government activities charges.
5. Dmitry Glukhovsky is Wanted in Russia
In February 2022, Russian armed forces invaded Ukraine in what the Russian high command termed as a military special operation.
Russian media outlets and citizens were warned against referring to the country’s attack on Ukraine as a war or invasion.
With his comments referencing the conflict as a war, Glukhovsky put himself on the collision with Russian authorities.
Glukhovsky was placed on the Russian federal wanted list after a Moscow district court ordered Glukhovsky’s arrest in absentia.
He faces up to 10 or 15 years in prison if arrested and convicted.

Dmitry Glukhovsky is known to speak five languages, Russian, French, Armenian, German, and Hebrew.
He was born and raised in Russia, making the Russian language his mother tongue, he also lived and studied Hebrew in Israel.
Dmitry learned French and German when he worked as a journalist in both countries.
The Armenian Language is another language he fluently speaks; he also speaks and writes some of his books in English.
He has translated his books into different languages to reach more readers across the world.
7. Dimtry Glukhovsky Books Have Been Developed into Video Games

Metro 2033 is a 2010 first-person shooter video game developed by 4A Games and published by THQ.
The story is based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novel of the same name, where survivors of a nuclear war have taken refuge in the Metro tunnels of Moscow.
Metro 2033 was the debut title for 4A Games, whose founders had experience working on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl at GSC Game World.
Metro 2033 was profitable for THQ, selling more than 1.5 million copies by June 2012.
8. Dimtry Glukhovsky Divorced his Wife
In an interview with Yury Dud, a Russian journalist, who operates a YouTube channel that interviews famous figures from former soviet union republics.
Dmitry revealed that he and his wife Elena Glukhovskaya had divorced in early 2020.
The writer was married to producer Elena Glukhovskaya, whom he met while working at Russia Today. The couple has two children.

9. Dmitry Glukhovsky was a War Correspondent
From 2007 to 2009, he worked at Radio Mayak. He covered the 2006 Lebanon War as a war correspondent, writing reports under mortar shelling.
Radio Mayak is a radio station based in Moscow, it was established in August 1964 as a major All-Union Radio station dedicated to news and light music.
The Lebanon war was 34 days of military conflict between Israel’s defense forces and Hezbollah’s paramilitary forces.
The conflict started on 12 July 2006 and continued until United Nations brokered a ceasefire.
10. Dmitry Glukhovsky is Working on New Projects

Dmitry Glukhovsky is working on a new project; the plan metro universe is a series of books similar to the stalker, but more modern and advanced.
Each month a book will be released for the series, in which the action will take place in the created world of metro 2033.
