Where to Sing Karaoke in Rome
I won’t pretend that karaoke is my forte, but I do know that many people absolutely love this pastime.
I speak to a lot of visitors in Rome who struggle to find adequate karaoke spots in the ancient city to sing their nights away. After taking a further look, I too can conclude that Rome isn’t a city that centers itself around this activity very extensively. Compared to cities like Barcelona and Lisbon, Rome has almost no karaoke bars.
Here is what I know for sure:
La Saletta in Rome
Most people stumble into la Saletta after spending their evening in the Piazza Navona and then wandering around in search of a drink. This is a particularly charming part of Rome, great for night strolls and guided walking tours.
As you pass La Saletta you’ll likely be lured in by the sounds of the sweet (sometimes sour) singing voices within. It’s €2 to become a la Saletta “member”, which is essentially another way of saying entrance fee.
As far as karaoke bars in Rome go, this is as good as it gets. The space is completely dedicated to karaoke, which takes place for the entirety of their opening hours. You’ll sign up for the songs of your choice and wait your turn.

The crowds are usually a good mix of younger and older generations. All are welcome and no one needs to feel intimidated by the activity, so long as you’re having a good time no one cares whether you can sing or not.
The downside for karaoke lovers in Rome is that la Saletta doesn’t open at all on Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays. There has never been a song enough demand for the activity in Rome and so they keep their operation days limited.
Worth the hype, and worth a visit.

Scholars Lounge Irish Pub in Rome
First of all, we need a moment to appreciate the fact that an Irish pub in Rome has vegan burgers on their menu. Gone are they days where plant eaters have to snack solely on French fries while sipping on their Guinness.
In addition to merging the pub and veganism worlds, Scholars Lounge also hosts a karaoke night once a week that is a highlight for the people of Rome.
The karaoke evening takes place every Wednesday evening from 10:30pm. It is hosted by Morìz, and truly is one of the best karaoke venues in the city. It’s a real pity that it only happens once a week.

The rest of the week at Scholars is dedicated to beer and sports. During big sporting events this is probably where you want to be, if you enjoy the festivities, that is.
While we’re in the area, keep in mind that the Trevi Fountain is an attraction best viewed by night when the crowds have dispersed and the sight is lit up. It’s a short walk from Scholars, so if you’re in town on a Wednesday definitely make an effort to see the fountain and make it to Scholars by 10:30pm.

Abbey Theatre Irish Pub in Rome
If you weren’t already aware, Irish pubs are notorious hot-spots for karaoke in Europe. All of them usually have one evening per week that they dedicate to this activity; at Abbey Theatre, it’s a Tuesday.
Their karaoke evenings are new to Rome, but have been hugely successful nonetheless. Tuesdays at the Abbey are also taco nights, which makes for an interesting addition to an already confusing space; Irish pub, karaoke singing and Mexican food. Tacos are also served here on Thursdays if you prefer to dine without strangers serenading you.

It seems that all of Rome’s karaoke sticks to one area. This one is also in Ponte, west of Trevi on the right bank of the Tiber. Crossing the bridge close to the bar will take you on the left bank and directly into the Vatican City (which must be explored via a guided walking tour).

Trinity College Pub in Rome
Staying on the right bank (no surprise here) we find out fourth and final spot in Rome in which to sing karaoke.
Trinity College Pub is a musical centered space that attempts to put on a different musical genre each evening to cater to all different groups of interest. Some nights are hip hop, the next might be 80s, after that rock & roll… keeping up with their social media is the best way to know what’s on at any given time.
Thursdays are reserved for their karaoke evenings. Take note, however, that karaoke only starts at midnight and continues through until closing at 3am. It’s not much, but we’ll take it.

Trinity has a fantastic selection of beers from around the world. Their menu is typical pub food but the portions are generous and tasty nonetheless.
As with every pub in Rome, days of big sporting events are considered sacred and these bars will be packed to the brim — come early!
