On 12 February, he scored the game-winning goal as Napoli overcame a 3-2 first-leg deficit to defeat Roma and advance to the Coppa Italia Final. Jorginho played the entire 90 minutes of Napoli’s 3-1 victory over Fiorentina in the final on May 3.

He replaced Jonathan de Guzmán in the second half of extra time during the 2014 Supercoppa Italiana in Doha on December 22, 2014. He took Napoli’s first penalty kick in the penalty shootout, and while Gianluigi Buffon saved it, Napoli eventually won.

But Jorginho completed an incredible 158 passes against Newcastle – one every 34 seconds – while accounting for 15% of total possession in the game – the home side had only 18%! He even outperformed the Magpies in terms of passes completed.

Not only that, but he broke Gundogan’s record of 173 passes completed against Chelsea in the same game for Manchester City. Man City and Chelsea met again in the 2019 EFL Cup Final on February 24, 2019. Jorginho failed to convert a penalty after a goalless game. Manchester City won the game 4-3 as a result. Jorginho came on as a substitute against Villarreal in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup on August 12, which Chelsea won 6-5 on penalties. In the shootout, he took and scored the fifth penalty.

Jorginho was named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year on August 26, 2021, defeating his Chelsea teammate and UEFA Men’s Midfielder of the Year, N’Golo Kanté, as well as Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
