Gisele Caroline B眉ndchen is a Brazilian supermodel, an activist, and a businesswoman. Since the early 2000s, Gisele has been on the list of the highest-paid models in the world and continues to dominate the industry to date.  

The Brazilian beauty managed to be the highest-paid model in the world for 15 years. She is one of the most celebrated, sought-after models in the world. She also made it to the 鈥楳ost Powerful Woman in the World list by Forbes in 2014.

1. Her Grandfather Was the Mayor of Her Hometown  

Gisele was born on 20th July 1980 in Horizontina, a municipality and a city in the Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil. She is a sixth-generation German Brazilian. Although she does not speak German, she speaks Portuguese, English, Italian, Spanish, and some French. 

Her parents were V芒nia (n茅e Nonnenmacher), a bank clerk pensioner, and Valdir B眉ndchen, a sociologist and writer. Her grandfather, Walter B眉ndchen, once served as mayor of Horizontina and the family is of Roman Catholic faith. 

Some members of the Bundchen family are still living in Horizontina. 

2. Gisele Has A Twin Sister

Gisele has a non-identical twin sister, who is just 7 minutes younger. Patricia, who is also stunningly beautiful, also signed up for the same modeling course Gisele did. Patricia didn鈥檛 follow the profession, but she remains very close to her sister and works as her manager. 

Gisele was bullied in school for being too skinny and tall. They said her eyes were too small and her nose was too big. Patricia was considered the beautiful one.   

The twins have four other sisters. There is Gabriela who works as Gisele鈥檚 lawyer, Rafaela who manages Gisele鈥檚 website, Raquel an accountant and Graziela a judge in Brazil. 

3. Her Dream Was To Play Volleyball   

Before modeling was an option, Gisele’s childhood dream was to become a professional volleyball player. The model used to play in the school team, she was so talented as a player that she became the captain of her school team in Horizontina. 

4. She Was A Teenager When She Was Discovered 

During her childhood in Horizontina, Gisele was a straight-A student with the desire of turning into an expert volleyball player because her abilities on the court were great. 

When she was 13 years old, she was spotted by an agent at a fast-food restaurant. Gisele then started working in her home country before making her New York Fashion Week debut in 1996, at the age of 16. 

Gisele鈥檚 first big break came when Alexander McQueen chose her for his runway show in 1997, she was chosen for her ability to walk in high heels on a slippery runway. She was only 18 when she secured her first British Vogue cover.

The same year, she was named 鈥渢he most beautiful girl in the world鈥� by Rolling Stone magazine. The previous year, she had won the 鈥楳odel of the Year award鈥� at the VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards in New York. 

6. She Earned More Than Her Husband 

Gisele was married to Tom Brady, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Besides being multi-millionaires, Tom and Gisele were the picture-perfect king and queen of Celebrity Land for the years that they were married.

Although Brady is one of the NFL鈥檚 most elite quarterbacks, it is Gisele who was bringing in most of the money. She has a solo estimated net worth of $360 million while Brady is sitting on around $160 million. Their union ended and the divorce was finalized in October 2022.

Gisele, being no stranger to business, took advantage of various opportunities presented to her for business investments. She designed her line of sandals for Ipanema.  

She also collaborated on a clothing line with European retailer C&A. The model also developed a natural skin line with as little impact on the environment as possible.  

The skincare kit consists of three products. A day cream, night cream, and a mud mask. All these products promise to give a natural glow to women鈥檚 skin. The line of beauty products is called Sejaa. 

She has also launched her lingerie brand, Gisele Bundchen Brazilian Intimates, through a partnership with Hope, one of Brazil鈥檚 largest lingerie manufacturers. 

8. She Wrote Her First Book in 2018 

Gisele published her first memoir titled, 鈥楲essons: My Path to a Meaningful Life.鈥� In this book, she has included all her life and her way of thinking and making decisions. The book became an instant New York Times Bestseller.  

Here, readers learn of her childhood years when she was barefoot in a small town in Brazil, till the time that an internationally successful career started for her.  

The model also talks about motherhood and her marriage. She also revealed that she used to have many anxiety crises, and one day she felt like jumping from her building to end that feeling. 

She looked for a doctor, started meditation, and did yoga every day. That changed her life, and she became more spiritual and started to have a healthy lifestyle. 

9. The Model鈥檚 Family Follows A Strict Diet 

Gisele and her family follow a strict diet. They have a personal chef who makes sure all the food they eat is healthy and organic.  

The diet also varies from season to season, they eat meals like red meat in the winter and mostly raw foods in the summer. 

Their breakfast for example, usually consists of scrambled eggs and gluten-free toast, with avocado or coconut yogurt, and the occasional gluten-free pancake. A莽a铆 berries and bananas are also part of the meal. 

They avoid mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, coffee, Gatorade, white sugar, flour, gluten, dairy, soda, cereal, white rice, potatoes, and bread.

The model has been involved in several social and environmental causes. She has helped feed the poor, plant trees, supported HIV victims in Africa, and started a foundation to help girls deal with self-esteem. 

 She also supported the Breast Cancer Campaign to educate women on how to perform a breast self-exam among other causes.
