Top 10 Facts about Dahl Al Misfar Cave

Dahl Al Misfar Cave is the largest and deepest cave in Qatar, with a depth of about 40 meters to 100 meters. It is located 40 kilometres from Doha, the capital city of Qatar, in the Rawdat Rashid area.

Dahl Al Misfir Cave was formed 325,000 to 500,000 years back according to the Visit Qatar Website during the Middle Pleistocene. The cave is an attractive site and is even mentioned as one of Qatar’s tourist attractions.

Some other Qatar tourist attraction sites include Souq Waqif, the Museum of Islamic Art, the National Museum of Qatar, Katara Cultural Village, the Pearl-Qatar, The Corniche, Al Khor Park, Al Khol Mall, Purple Island, Aspire Park and Qatar National Library.

It is good to note within the cave area there is no place to get food or water so it is advisable to come prepared, and the place is difficult to access since there is no sign anywhere to direct you and lack of direction boards not forgetting you have to drive 0ff-road for about 2-4 kilometers.

The entrance of the cave is said to be about 12 by 4.5 meters. It is formed largely of fibrous gypsum crystals derived from the Lower Damman Formation and Rus Formation. It is a must-visit location I recommend it to all.

The cave is located in a desert and no cafes nor restaurants to grab something to eat after a long day of hiking in this deep cave.

Despite being difficult to access due to the absence of proper signage and direction boards and off-roading involving about 2-4 kilometres many visitors show up to the place across the year.  It is good to note if you don’t know the place you need a GPS for directions since no single sign anywhere is allocated on the road to direct you.
