1. Heinz Field came after Three Rivers Stadium

Three Rivers Stadium served as a multipurpose facility and was the home field of the Steelers and baseball鈥檚 Pittsburgh Pirates. They shared the field from 1970 until 2000.

On June 18, 1999, construction began for new stadiums for both Steelers and Pirates. In 2001 they moved to their new stadiums, Heinz Field for Steelers and the PNC Park for the pirates. Afterward, Three Rivers Stadium was imploded.

Heinz Field earned its name from the locally based H. J. Heinz Company which bought the naming rights in June 2001. The deal had it that Heinz would pay the Steelers a total of $57 million through 2021. The 鈥�57鈥� figure was intentional to match the historical advertising slogan of the company 鈥�57 Varieties鈥�.

2. Heinz Field changed to Acrisure Stadium in 2022

After the expiry of naming rights owned by Heinz in February 2022, the company kept off signing a new deal. But Art Rooney II, the Steelers President partnered with Acrisure CEO Greg Williams, and the stadium was named after the Michigan-based insurance brokerage company.
