Alizée Lyonnet is a French singer, dancer, and musician. Popularly known among her childhood friends as “Lili”. She is one of the most talented artists in France  and who has had winning ways since her childhood days.

Below are Some of her fascinating life facts ;

1. She was Born and Raised in Ajaccio, Corsica

She was born  on 21 August 1984 in a coastal town of  Ajaccio, Corsica.

2.At a Tender Age she Won a Painting Competition Organized by Air Outré Mer

During 1988–2000 she studied in what was then called Ecole de Danse Monique Mufraggi, a famous dance and theatre school in Ajaccio

In 1995, aged 11the Alizee won a coloring competition with about 7,000 entrants organized by the French airline Air Outré Mer.
Her design was used to paint the exterior of one of their airliners and was subsequently named after her Alizee. As part of the package, she won a vacation trip to the Maldives Islands for her family.

3.She Became Famous After Winning a Performance in the Talent show Graines de Star in 1999

In 1999, Alizee appeared on the TV talent show Graines de Star, broadcast on Metropole initially she had intended to sign up for the dancing contest, only to realize it was reserved for groups only.

She had no choice but to join the singing category instead and performed Jenniffer Lopez’s song  and Axelle’s 1997 single.

She won the Meilleure Graine award for the most promising young singing stars.

4.Veteran Songwriters Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat were her Mentors

During the Graines de Star in 1999  she was spotted by veteran songwriters Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, who were looking for a young, fresh voice for one of their projects and she was selected through a studio audition.

At this  time, she was then considered the protégée of Mylène Farmer, as they kept a tight rein how her music was marketed and controlled how she portrayed herself.

Alizée gave very few interviews, and even when she did, they did not stretch beyond 20 minutes per journalist. Neither did she agree to any photo shoots. 

5.Her Debut Single was Used as Soundtrack in a UK 2006 film, A Good Year

Alizée made her debut with the single Moi Lolita is her most successful to date. It enjoyed success throughout most of Europe and parts of East Asia, reaching number one in several countries.

The music video storyline portrayed Alizée as an impoverished rustic teen visiting a dance club in the city with her little sister, pursued by a young man who had lent them the bus fare to get there, but whose romantic interest in her she never returns.

The song was used as a sound track in the UK 2006 film, A Good Year.

6.She took Three Years to Break from the Limelight from 2005 to 2007

In 2005 Alizée first disappeared from the limelight, it was revealed she was pregnant for Jérémy Chatelain She gave birth to a baby girl, Annily, on 28 April and put her career on hold.
In August 2007 she returned to the industry and left her mentor Universal Records and signed a deal with RCA.

7.She Made a Successful Tour to Mexico upon Releasing her New Album

Alizee collaboration with her mentors ended in 2006. A year later, in December of 2007, she released her third album, Psychedelices for the first time, without her artistic supervision.

This album enjoyed limited success in France but topped international the charts in Mexico.

Despite the promotion it had moderate success in France, where it reached number 16 on the albums chart. The album only held its peak position for one week on each chart and fell in the second week.

It debuted at number 44 in the Mexican Top 100 Albums Chart. The album peaked at number 15 in the main chart and number 1 in the international chart. It has sold 300,000 copies so far

The critics considered it as artistically inferior of her previous efforts. Many of her fans were disappointed by this album as it was not produced by Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat.

8.She Changed her Style 4th Album in 2010

During the Psychedelices tour, she had to cancel a tour date in Âé¶¹APP, stating that she was already working on her new album and it would sound different from all of her previous recordings.

The album Une Enfant Du Siècle and was released in France on 29th March 2010. The theme of the album is the life of American model Edie Sedgwick from birth till death, based on the style of Andy Warhol.

While she was not mentioned in the lyrics but the album has many references to him. The album received positive reviews from critics.

However, it peaked at number24 on the French Album Chart as well as number 22 on the Mexican Albums Chart.

The single Limelight was released as a teaser single, being uploaded on 15th February 2010 on British website pop justice. The main single Les Collines was released on 26 April 2010.

9.Her Fifth Album did not Chart in France

In spring 2012, Alizée announced that she would release a new album. However, Sony delayed the album to autumn 2012.
In the meantime, she was featured in the single Clara Veut la Lune by Alain Chamfort. On 27 June 2012, Alizée announced on live chat that the first single, À cause de l’automne from the new album was to be released 28th June 2012. She also revealed that for the new album she was working with Jean-Jacques Goldman, BB Brunes and Thomas Boulard were also working on the album.

The first music video was shot on 15 July 2012 and was released on 5 December 2012. It featured Alizée playing with autumn leaves and umbrellas. The first performance of the single was on RFM radio on 21 December 2012 where she sang the song in a live broadcast. It charted at 131 on the French Singles Chart.

The album was yet again delayed to spring 2013. In January, she revealed the artwork and name for the album, which is named 5. The album incorporated dance-pop, rock and ballads. This was her first album to not chart in the French Album Chart.

10.She Owns a Studio in Her Home Town

After divorcing her former husband in 2011 she is now married to Grégoire Lyonnet and together owns a dance studio in Ajaccio, Corsica. They welcomed a baby girl called Maggy Lyonnet on 24 November 2019.
