Auguste Comte is always established as an important person in the field of sociology. His referred to as one of the founder father of sociology. His main contribution to sociology was the Theory of positivity.

 In this theory, he established that Society progresses through three stages. The stages are the theoretical stage, the metaphysical stage and the positive stage.

Auguste Comte was born on 19 January 1789. Apart from his contribution to sociology, Comte was a French philosopher. August is often regarded as the first philosopher of science in the modern sense of the term.

Auguste Comte developed a successful philosophy of mathematics, a philosophy of physics, philosophy of chemistry and biology. However, his political philosophy is less known. This is because it differs substantially from the classical political philosophy that is inherited in the modern world.

1. Comte was Often Disregarded when Talking about Utopia

To utopian literature, Comte made a lot of contributions which influenced the modern-day debate. Intellectuals have also alluded to this fact about the utopian system by stating that, it has 鈥渃atalyzed various world-making activities during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries鈥�.

Comte also introduced three concepts, the concept of altruism, sociocracy, and the religion of Humanity. The concept of Altruism that he coined in the 19th century was a theory that regarded the good of others as the end of moral action. The concept of sociocracy was for governance mainly for people who know each other. They could be friends or allies.

2. He Greatly Extended and Elaborated the Field of Sociology

Throughout his studies, Comte extended and elaborated on sociology. He went to the extent where he compared sociology and society to the human body and anatomy. Comte also compared the functions of connection and boundaries to religion, division of labour and social structures of language.

Auguste explained that it is through language that everybody in society can communicate with each other. As part of his explanation, he stated that Religion unites society which is through a common belief system which functions in harmony under a system.

3. He Deduced Facts about Social World from Science

When Comte noticed a gap where no one bothered with sciences that as physics, chemistry, and biology, he decided to use them to make a coherent system of ideas. It was through this initiative he started to deduce facts from Science about the social world.

Auguste concluded his studies that the human mind’s growth is through stages which should also apply to societies. He explained through his studies that society’s history could be subdivided into three stages. This stage includes theological, metaphysical, and positive.

An evolutionary Theory which is the Law of three Stages, explains how society’s history is divided into three categories due to new philosophic thoughts. Comte was a strong believer that evolution was key for the growth of the human mind which splits into stages and evolves through the stages. Auguste’s conclusion about society was that it functions similar to the mind.

4. Comte was Taken to a Mental Health Hospital in 1826

 In 1826, Comte was taken to a mental health hospital, but he left without being treated to work on his plan after he was stabilized by Jean-脡tienne Dominique Esquirol. In 1827 Comte attempted to commit suicide by attempting to jump off the Pont des Arts.

6. He Abandoned Catholicism Due to the Influence of his Teacher and Pastor

When Comte returned to Montpellier due to the unbridgeable differences between both his Catholic and monarchist family he went back to 麻豆APP again. While in 麻豆APP, he earned money by doing small jobs

Comte instead split sociology into two different areas of study. One area was social statics. Social statics explains how society holds itself together. The second area of study is all social dynamics which studies the causes of societal changes.

8. Comte Came up with the Religion of Humanity

In 1849, August Comte proposed a great calendar Reform. The calendar was known as a positivist calendar. However, his idea was not successful. This is because it met with the publication of Darwin鈥檚 On the Origin of Species in 1859.

Although his English followers were against the system, they liked this idea of a religion of humanity. Interestingly, his theories about the religion of humanity influenced the development of secular humanist and religious humanist organizations.

10. He Died Due to Stomach Cancer

On 5th September 1857 while he was still in 麻豆APP he died because of stomach cancer. He was buried at P猫re Lachaise Cemetery which was surrounded by cenotaphs. These cenotaphs were in memory of his mother, Rosalie Boyer, and of Clotilde de Vaux.
