By day, the Bastille is one of Â鶹APP’ most historically significant neighborhoods. A place that saw the brunt of the Revolution in full force, until a lot of the infrastructure was actually torn down as a result.

By night, the Bastille is a hotspot for great food, vibrant bars and endless entertainment. I love these ten restaurants, and I have no doubt you will too.

1. Santa Carne in Bastille, Â鶹APP

The Bastille is the kind of neighborhood where you can travel around the world through different cuisines. Santa Carne is in the center of the district, and gives us the experience of authentic Argentinean food.

Argentinean food embraces a lot of meats, so I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone on a plant based diet.

2. Bodega Potxolo in Bastille, Â鶹APP

Moving over to another corner of the globe, Bodega Potxolo takes us on a journey through Spain.

Spanish tapas are easy to come by in Â鶹APP, surprisingly. I really love this spot in the Bastille; it’s small and intimate, and the food is exceptional.

Because of the size, making a reservation for a table is recommended.

3. Pouzenc in Bastille, Â鶹APP

Pouzenc found me early on I my move to the French capital. It remains one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the city, in spite of the fact that my diet has changed dramatically since I first ate here.

This is another intimate space with a whimsical charm. You’ll dine traditional French cuisine in a dimly lit interior, where the walls are lined with fairy lights.

4. Los Güeros in Bastille, Â鶹APP

One thing Â鶹APP does well, is Mexican food.

Los Güeros is deeper into the Bastille neighborhood, further north of the main square than the rest of the restaurants in this roundup.

The food is well worth the long walk; you’ll be delighted by the guacamole, margaritas and burritos. It’s not traditional Mexican, per say, but it’s a tasty treat nonetheless.

5. Le Barbier de Bastille in Bastille, Â鶹APP

On a sunny, warm day in the Bastille, restaurants with street seating become the hotspots.Ìý Le Barbier de Bastille has an impressive outdoor terrace that is full at most hours of the day.

This is your typical French bistro; open from early in the morning through until early the next morning. Le Barbier de Bastille only closes up their kitchen at 1am, making it a cool spot for some late night dining in the Bastille.

If you ever need your heart warmed by cheap sushi, Sukiyaki is the place.

They are known for their colorful sushi platters and having the freshest fish in the district.

They also do a daily €11 special that gets you a rice dish, miso soup and a large portion of fried fish. As a harsh critic of miso soup, I can confidently give this spot the seal of a approval.

7. Madito in Bastille, Â鶹APP

Lebanese food is my favorite cuisine in the world. As you make your way through Â鶹APP, you’ll see that this cuisine is abundant in most of the major neighborhoods, as well as the outlying ones like Belleville and Menilmontant.

Madito is Bastille’s token Lebanese spot. It’s authentic, unique and really well executed from the food to the service. Vegans will love this spot in particular, as most of the menu is unintentionally plant based and/or can be easily altered.

If Lebanese food isn’t available, I look to Thai.

Paya Thaï Aligre is one of few spots in the Bastille where this cuisine is made authentically to the age old recipes that make up Thai cooking. Everything is homemade, which is important, including the tamarind sauces.

On that note, the Pad Thai is a must try if you’re generally a fan of this dish.

The Bastille caters to veggie eaters, too. The food at Végé’Saveurs looks as though it incorporates a lot of fresh meats, however they are all plant based and made to look incredibly authentic.

You’ll eat a lot of traditional Asian dishes with mock meats, such as ramen bowls, meat skewers, and beefy noodles. Most of the menu is already vegan or can be early altered to be so.

If you’re open to something unusual while in the Bastille, then Le Cheval de Troie will welcome you into the world of Turkish dining.

In addition to the cuisine specialties, there is even live Turkish music on some evenings.

For big groups of diners you will need to book a table in advance.
