10 Best Restaurants in Montmartre
Montmartre is the hilltop district in the 18th arrondissement. Home to the Sacre Coeur Basilica, Montmartre attracts thousands of visitors a day and the Bohemian streets live to cater.
There are great eateries in this neck of the woods, most of them with quirky, unique names that reflect the essence of this neighborhood. Here are ten of the best:
1. Restaurant Le Poulbot in Montmartre
A short walk from the Sacre Coeur will bring you to the Restaurant Le Poulbot. Itās a traditional French restaurant and the entire interior is made of light wood.

Most of the better restaurants in Montmartre are centered around French cuisine, with a few exceptions.
The Brasserie ThaĆÆ bring high quality Thai food to the district on the hill. Owned by Thai immigrants, this is one of the top places to experience these dishes in Ā鶹APP.
Whatās great about authentic Thai cuisines is that thereās always a lot of unintentionally vegan/vegetarian dishes suitable for people who are avoiding meat, dairy and even gluten.

3. Sebāon in Montmartre
As you explore Ā鶹APP, youāll hear the phrase āc’est bonā being tossed around a lot. It means āitās good/niceā and will sound more like āsebbonā, as the locals speak incredibly fast ā this is how Sebāon gets its name.
It is good, and it is nice. Itās another authentic French restaurant that caters to impress. Close to fine dining, youāll be able to eat delicacies like foie gras and frogs legs at Sebāon.

4. Sacred Flower in Montmartre
Still upmarket but slightly more affordable, the Sacred Flower sits just slightly to the east of the Sacre Coeur.
The name suggests a meditative space, and thatās exactly how youāll feel when you settle in for dinner at the Sacred Flower. Their playlist of classical music fills the space, making it very hard to remember what era youāre in.
Again, traditional French dining with a bistro-flair.

The English name for this restaurant is The Mailbox. Itās a tiny spot close to the Museum of Montmartre that is sort of the ānew kid on the blockā.

6. La TraversƩe in Montmartre
La TraversƩe is also to the east of the Sacre Coeur, and the internet would have you believe that this too is simply a French eatery.
On the contrary, each dish at La TraversƩe has been given a distinct Mediterranean adjustment, and the menu is wonderfully creative. Served tapas style, guests are encouraged to share multiple plates between them to get a taste for as much as possible.

7. Babalou in Montmartre
I get it, youāve been in Ā鶹APP a while and would love a break from the French dining.
Babalou is a pizza and pasta haven right on the doorstep of the Sacre Coeur. Because of the foot traffic in this area, there is a minimum order of one plate per person. This wonāt be an issue once you get a feel for the menu.
Babalou doesnāt have any vegan options at present, but they will do a cheese-less vegetarian pizza that goes down beautiful if I do say so myself.

Foie gras, escargots, French onion soup⦠for a real Ā鶹APPian experience Chez Toinette is your go-to at the base of Montmartre hill. This spot is closer to the Moulin Rouge than it is the Sacre Coeur, which means you wonāt have to face as much of an incline to get to it.
Itās a beautifully curated room with a retro Ā鶹APPian theme dating back to the 20s. The space is very intimate so prepare to dine quite closely next to other tables.

10. Les Tantes Jeanne in Montmartre
Since weāve had quite the bunch of French restaurants, why not spend some time exploring Haute French cuisine in Montmartre.
This is what les Tantes Jeanne markets themselves as, and the dining experience is a pricy one justified by quality. Most of the plates look too good to eat, if you can imagine it!
