Elizabeth Locke – travel blogger

Every other week, Discover Walks will share with some great insight from Travel bloggers from around the world who fell in love with Â鶹APP. They will share their favorites addresses and things to do while in Â鶹APP. Because genuine advice and stories are so important to us, in addition to our born-and-raised Â鶹APPian tour stories, we now bring you real advice from fellow travelers.

Biking to Giverny

Bonjour Elizabeth, can you tell us more about who you are?

Bonjour, I’m Elizabeth Locke, I was born in a small town in Texas and I’m 30 years old.

Why did you start writing ?

Upon college graduation in 2008, I began working as a technical writer at Southwest Airlines. One of my work perks was free flights so I began my blog as a mini-travel diary to keep track of the places I went and the things I saw, ate and experienced.

Why did you start traveling?

I can’t sit still. I want to visit all of the beautiful places I’ve seen in movies or read about in books and magazines.

What’s special about your blog?

For me, it chronicles my twenties and my decision to leave Texas and move to Europe. There are high-highs and low-lows in between all of the posts and it’s special for me to remember the beautiful places I went and the incredible experiences I had while also navigating the very mundane aspects of growing up: health, taxes, dating, broken friendships, developing self-esteem, etc.

What would be your top 3 things to do in Â鶹APP?

  • In Â鶹APP, I think the Orangerie Museum is absolute magic and can’t be missed.
  • If the weather is pleasant, spend time in Luxembourg Gardens. They have outdoor jazz concerts and you can sit and drink rose and eat crepes and brie while you people watch and enjoy beautiful music.
  • But, one of the best experiences in Â鶹APP is wandering about the city and taking time to explore farmer’s markets, pop into boutiques, slowly drink wine or tiny coffees and enjoy the vibe of the city.

Le Meurice

Your Top 3 good addresses in Â鶹APP?

  • Sacré Coeur (at sunset with a bottle of red wine).
  • The rooftop at Galleries Lafayette.
  • The terrace at Printemps.

Your favorite landmark in Â鶹APP?

I love the Royal Opéra House. And, the Eiffel Tower (of course).

Le Marais. I could stroll around and window shop all day.

Could you give us your recommendation to first timers in Â鶹APP?

Don’t rush. Take your time. And choose a day trip close to the city like Â鶹APP or Giverny (Monet’s Gardens). Both are amazing and wonderful.
