Veena Malik is a Pakistani multifaceted talent that wears many hats among which include being an actress, TV host, reality television personality, and model. Born as Zahida Malik on 26th February 1984, the star has appeared in many Bollywood and Pakistani films. She made her film debut in 2000 with Sajjad Gul’s Tere Pyar Mein which was the genesis of an illustrious film career.

In 2012, she made her Bollywood debut starring in a comedy and was later on featured in a horror film in 2014. Veena Malik is a popular household name and though much of her life is in the public eye, here are some 10 interesting facts you might not know about the star.

1.She Was a Soldier Before She Started Acting

Veena was born into a conservative army family in the city of Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Her father is a retired Pakistani army officer. Veena followed in her father’s footsteps and joined the Pakistani National Army before she changed career paths. Whilst in the army, she received basic military training and was a good shooter. She discovered her passion for acting soon enough and retired.

2.Veena Malik Holds Multiple Degrees

Not just a pretty face, the sizzling siren is also very well educated. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and also Psychology and Persian. Veena Malik attended the F.G College in her hometown, Rawalpindi. This was before leaving to join the army and later on transitioned into acting.

Speaking of her earlier life before fame, Veena Malik in her middle school and high school excelled both academically and was an ace athlete. She played basketball and was the captain of the football team. She is an eloquent debater and won several debating competitions and ‘Naat’ competitions.

4. Veena Is Involved In Humanitarian Work

With her educational background being in sociology, it is no wonder the actress is involved in humanitarian work. Veena Malik uses her platform, access, and resources to do charitable works some of which include sponsoring children at the SOS Children Village.

Her involvement goes as far as being a World Health Organization (WHO) representative working hand in hand with the organization to provide better access to healthcare for children.

5.She Broke a World Record

On her birthday, Veena Malik broke the Guinness Book World Record for getting the maximum number of kisses in one minute. She received 137 kisses in under a minute beating the previous record holder, Salman Khan, who held the title when he received 108 kisses in under one minute.

The kisses, it is important to note, were on her hand. This was during the tour of one of her films ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ and she had set out to break that record among 19 others in a bid to promote the film. It was Veena’s birthday and the men were chosen through a contest dubbed ‘The City That Never Sleeps -Bollywood Hunt’.

6.Veena Malik Ranked Among Indian Sexiest 100 Women List

In 2012, the model and Bollywood actress was ranked 26th place in a voting poll for FHM’s 100 Sexiest women. The list, compiled by FHM fans across the world, put her ranking above major Hollywood names such as Kim Kardashian and actress Angelina Jolie. Veena said, “I am honored to be a part of so many beautiful women, if people find me sexy for being myself then great”.

7.She Has a Prison Sentence

The beautiful actress may be talented but she comes with a boatload of controversy. Never been one afraid to speak her mind and express herself, the airing of an allegedly blasphemous video against the country’s religious beliefs had the actress and her husband arrested.

This led to their sentencing to 26 years in prison by the country’s anti-terrorism court in Pakistan. The video rubbed the largely Muslim population the wrong way when it featured rituals and celebrations being performed to a traditional song. The song was about Prophet Mohammad’s daughter’s wedding.

The controversial bit about it is that the video insinuated the actress was the prophet’s daughter in the enactment. However, the matter was settled and both are now out on bail.

8.Veena Malik is Retired

In 2013, following her marriage to Dubai-based businessman Asad Bashir Khan, the actress announced her retirement from the commercial showbiz industry. This decision she said was based on her newfound faith in Islam.

However, the actress is not completely out of the game and has said she will perform in religious films that align with her beliefs.
