Younus Khan’s  full name is Mohammed Younus Khan. He was born on March 24th 1977 in Mardan Pakistan. 

Khan was a Pakistan professional cricket coach. Former cricketer and captain of the Pakistan national cricket team. Khan was regarded as one of the greatest middle-order batsmen in Test cricket.

He was the fifth Pakistani player to score 1000 Test runs against Australia. Younus made his debut in 2000 and has been part of Pakistan鈥檚 rich history over the years. He was the highest run-getter in Test cricket

He was the first Pakistani cricketer to take 100 catches in test cricket.  He was regarded as one of the best players of spin bowling in the world

Younus Khan confirmed his retirement on November 11, 2015.  He announced that the first ODI between Pakistan and England would prevail over his last one.

He married Amna Khan on 30th March. They were blessed with three children, two sons and daughters.

1.Younus Khan was a Cricket Guide at an Early Age

As a young boy, he was brought up in Karachi where Pakistani wicket-keeper Rashid Latif spotted his cricketing talent. He guided him in the game and both of them were once playing together for the national side.

2. He Went Through Several Deaths in His Family in 2005 and 2006

In 2005, he flew back from Australia due to his father鈥檚 death. Later in the same year, he lost his elder brother when he was in England for a tour.

His brother died at the age of 41 in a car accident in  Ukraine where he praised his brother as the first person who taught him to play cricket.

In 2006, he lost his other older brother Farman Ali khan who was only 39 when he died in a car accident in Germany.

Younus was battling in the second ODI against West Indies in Faisalabad when the news of his brother reached him and he did not participate in any of the remaining matches.

3. He became the First Pakistani Cricketer to take 100 Catches in Test cricket

He attained the accomplishment when he caught Rangana Herath, in the berths off the bowling of Abdur Rehman. This was on day two of the second Test against Sri Lanka at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo.

Younus came into this match with 99 catches to his name and  Pakistan had not had a tremendous fielding side. The numbers were reflected as he became the first person to achieve one hundred catches in Trials.

Many other players also performed well in the tests. These players included Inzamam-ul-Haq and Javed Miandad who had a safe pair of hands in the slip cordon.

4. He Cracked 1,000 Test Runs Against Australia

Younus was the highest run-getter in Test cricket. He was the fifth Pakistani player to score 1000 Test runs against Australia. He made his debut in 2000 and he has been part of Pakistan鈥檚 rich history over the years.

He led the country to the 2009 World T20 trophy, with a Test of above 50. A triple hundred against Sri Lanka and double hundreds against Australia, Bangladesh, England, India and Zimbabwe.

Unlike other players who came to give up at his age, he developed his game and became better. He was the stronghold of the Pakistan batting line-up alongside captain Misbah ul-Haq.

Besides, Younus Khan has appeared on the list of maximum runs in partnerships for Pakistan. The highest with Misbah followed by another with Mohammad Yousuf.

5. He Represented South Australia in the Sheffield Shield

He embodied the South Australian side in the Sheffield Shield tourney in late 2008.
In his maiden match, he scored 118. In all, he played two first-class games and three one-day games for the flank.

His first act as a captain was in 2005 in a destructive sequel against West Indies. He also helped Pakistan in winning a Test match against India in Karachi.

However, after Champions Trophy’s first-round exit, he was dismissed to proceed as the captain. Shoaib Malik was turned into the role as his alternate.

鈥淒uring my 15-year-long association with ODI cricket, I always tried my best to play positive cricket for my team both as captain and as a player. But now I feel that the time has come when I should call it a day from one day cricket,鈥� Younus Khan said on his retirement.

He achieved 7249 runs in the 265 matches he played for his side. He retired in T20Is after Pakistan鈥檚 victory in T20 World Cup 2009.
