Kelechi Ihenacho was born on October 3, 1996, in Obogwe, Imo State, Nigeria, to Elder James Ihenacho (Father) and Late Mercy Ihenacho (mother). Kelechi Ihenacho’s father acknowledged his son’s choice to play football and began supporting him as soon as he learned that his son had won the golden ball award, medals, and other rewards from the state commissioner of sports.

He was persuaded and observed to make a breakthrough in life through football. Elder James Ihenacho (his father) quickly registered his son at the state’s best football academy.

It didn’t take long for his son to be enrolled at the Taiye Football Academy’s Lagos state branch in Owere, the capital city of Imo State in Eastern Nigeria. It was all about the national football competition this time, which was held in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. Kelechi, the captain of the Imo state team, was well-known.

When he turned 18 years old, Manchester City secured a contract to sign him.
