Parc Phoenix is a 7- hectare botanical garden and Zoo. The park was opened in February 1990.
It is located at the southwestern edge of Nice, France. In the l’Arenas district, along the Promenade des Anglais.
Parc Phoenix is divided into several zones. These are tropical zone, a Mediterranean garden, and areas reserved for animals.

1. The Park was Opened in a Popular South-western Town of Nice
The park was officially opened in February 1990. It is a lot at the southwestern edge of Nice. In the l’Arenas district, which is along the Promenade des Anglais.
The park’s location is right by the airport. However, the neighbourhood has its advantages and disadvantages.
From the park, visitors get a clear view of aircraft taking off. This is while lying on the grass under the palm trees.
Unfortunately, the airport has constant noise and the smell of aviation fuel. This can be a problem for people who are not fascinated by aviation.

Parc Phoenix is the home to the largest Greenhouse in Europe. The centre-piece of the gigantic complex of superlatives is the Green Diamond or the Diamant Vert in French.
This is a glass Greenhouse. It occupies an area of 7,000 squareitsetres ( 75,000 sq ft). A height of 25 metres (82ft).
The garden portrays six tropical and subtropical climates. These are warm humid atmosphere, an Equatorial forest, a vast collection of rare orchids, a garden of southern Africa and a forest of tree ferns.
6. A Home to Lively and Friendly Farmyard Animals
The park has a small farm whereby farmyard animals are kept. Visitors get a chance to explore these animals and enjoy their friendly characteristics.
At the farm, you will enjoy the company of the Dwarf Silken Hen. Sweet and quiet, she loves company and can be mischievous to get some rewards. However, she can’t fly.
The hen was created from crossbreeding by Dutch breeders in 1980. The breed has the particularity of having 5 toes and a regular crest. The Colour of its skin is black and silky.
Other farmyard animals are the Geese, Falabella horses, Rabbits, goats and Gottingey pigs. The pig is lively and curious, so he is a real explorer.
7. Parc Phoenix has a Perfectly Reconstructed Oasis
In this area, you discover a true desert oasis, a place with water and sand. Various species of date palms are found at this Oasis.
In this area, you will discover the Poncirus trifoliata (Rutaceae family). This is a 4 metres tree. It’s wider compared to its height. Fast growing, bushy and very thorny.
The tree loses its leaves during winter. The only citrus fruit to have deciduous leaves. Flower buds form in early summer but only open the following spring. It’s flowering, very fragrant, takes place in April, before the appearance of new leaves.
However, the fruits of this tree are not edible. They are very acidic. They get ripe at the end of summer and remain on the tree until winter.
The tree has fragrant essential oils. Used as a rootstock for another citrus. It Gives them increased resistance to cold, early production and good fruit quality.

Parc Phoenix has a vegetable and fruit garden. The production varies according to season. In winter various vegetables are found such as lettuce, lamb’s lettuce, leeks, broad beans, parsley, cabbage and onions. During summer vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplant, melon, beans, basil, peppers, radishes and cucumbers can be available.
Other plants found in the garden are an olive grove, the vineyard, the citrus grove, and aromatic and medicinal species. The orchard which nowadays we are used to seeing only in the books, or on the tins of sauces.
9. Parc Phoenix has a Succession of Great Aviaries that Interrupts the Rustic Scenery with beautiful Voices
The park is rich in variegated day birds. Visitors enjoy different types of parrots that are magnificent in their way.
They are also other types of birds such as Peacocks, The Royal Cranes, Kookaburras and Flamingos. The birds make the park lively with their Tropical song.
