The MTV Awards which are often known as the MTV Video Music Awards or MTV Movie and TV Awards is usually a night to behold with singers, movie stars and other artist looks forward to. The yearly celebration is a true celebration and appreciation of the creativity in the movie and music industry, a true recognition of pop cultural history.

Being nominated is a thrill and winning is even better, however, Jenna Ortega’s win at the 2023 awards ceremony left many with the thoughts of how undeserving she was. Jenna was nominated for the award of the best performance in a show for Wednesday alongside Selena Gomez for Only Murder In The Building, Aubrey Plaza for The White Lotus, Riley Keough for Daisy Jones & The Six, Christina Ricci for Yellow Jackets and Sadie Sink for Stranger Things.

Jenna Ortega鈥檚 victory has been criticized and unfairness claims have been made, with many people contending that the actress was not deserving of the honour. Some of the comments include 鈥淣oooo im happy for jenna but Sadie deserve it more [cry and love Emoji]. For anyone who is not familiar with Sadie, she is a talented actress who is known for her popular role as Maxine “Max” Mayfield in the popular Netflix series “Stranger Things.”

The show established the actress in the entertainment industry and got her nominated for the same category as Jenna Ortega in the MTV Awards. I can鈥檛 lie and say she is not equally as talented because she is truly one of the most talented and charismatic young actresses working in the entertainment industry today, but could you compare her to Jenna really?

Instead of people celebrating the victory of an equally talented actress, they are putting Jenna Ortega down for winning the award.

Despite her apparent talent and rising fame, these fans have been vocal about their displeasure, saying that Sadie Sink deserved the honour more. While it’s undoubtedly upsetting to witness any artist face criticism for their accomplishments, especially Jenna Ortega, I just hope that they all remember that award shows and events will always be debatable because everyone has a different perspective on who deserves to win.

I don鈥檛 hate Sadie Sink but she is still a growing star in the entertainment world, and she will continue to achieve success in the years to come because to her acting skills. Not to sound clich茅 but everyone鈥檚 journey to success is different.

Look, it’s obvious that Jenna Ortega’s victory has left many fans with a bad taste in their mouths, although her talent and potential are evident, the question of whether or not she deserved to win still stands.
