French Phenom Already Two-time LNB MVP

Victory follows Victor Wembanyama everywhere he goes and on a slight note, some will argue that his first name is one of the major contributors to his success. It’s not, Wembanyama’s talent proves to be his main talking point and from time and again he has proved why he is one of the highest-prospected players to ever declare for the NBA draft.

Victor is just one of the highest prospects ever to declare for the NBA draft with the other being the NBA scoring leader LeBron James their eras sitting 20 years apart.

Well, 20 years without someone matching LeBron’s hype just so that a French international to come and surpass it? There is for sure something special about this kid.

Wembanyama is physically capable of ruling on both ends of the court. We expect nothing less when someone is 7’4″ tall and has a wingspan of about 8 feet. But his talent and overall playing style are what has set him apart. With that alien-like height, it is a no-brainer that Victor will find it easier to do some things other players can’t

He possesses a quick first step and strong ball-handling skills despite his height, which allow him to quickly get past the defence and make his shot. His shooting is smooth and fluid, extending beyond the three-point line.

He is also a great rim protector and a disruptive force in passing lanes on defense thanks to his length and quickness.

Possessing all these has enabled Wembanyama to lead his team to glory while achieving personal accolades along the way. One of his most notable personal accomplishments is winning the LNB MVP for March. This is the second time the French phenom is winning the prize the first time being back in November 2022.

Winning the award in such a competitive environment is not an easy feat and it goes to show how much hard work has played a role in shaping Wemby’s career.
Victor’s pursuits have also made it possible for his team Boulogne- Levallois Metropolitans 92 to sit second on the LNB Pro A just one position behind Monaco.

His recent accomplishment comes a few months after which Victor became the youngest player to win the MVP in the French All-Star game!

On December 29, 2022, Wembanyama became the youngest player ever to win the MVP award in the French LNB All-Star game whereby he achieved this by guiding his team to a 136- 128 victory against Non-French players in the league. He rallied his team to Victory managing to get 27 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.

Victor’s path surely seems to be on the right path and with his trend, perhaps he might win the MVP award when he gets to the NBA.

His fellow highest NBA prospect in 2003 LeBron James already has four Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards and four Finals MVP Awards and Victor will be looking to match these numbers once he gets to the NBA come June 22 the slated day for the 2023 NBA draft.
Will Victor Wembanyama ever win the coveted MVP award?
