A Chicago police officer was shot dead while going home from his shift on Sunday morning. The Chicago Police Department superintendent, Larry Snelling revealed in a news conference that the police officer whose name was not released was shot several times and his vehicle taken by the perpetrator. He further revealed that detectives are investigating to find out if the officer was shot during the carjacking. Larry snelling said, 鈥淲e can鈥檛 confirm that right now, but detectives are working through it. What we do know is that the officer鈥檚 vehicle was taken. But to get to the total motive of what happened, we need more information and the detective division is working on that鈥�. 

According to Snelling, the police officer who was gunned down was working hard to ensure the safety of communities and individuals in the city. Unfortunately, the officer became a victim of the crime he was working to prevent. Snelling expressed concern over the high rates of violent crime in the city and the brazen and cowardly actions of those who commit such crimes. He emphasised the need to put an end to these violent acts, which are disrupting the lives of honest, hardworking people in the community.

Snelling expressed his sympathy to the family of the officer, who is survived by his mother and uncle. He highlighted that the crimes that have been happening are senseless and are taking the lives of the community members.
