In a bid to broaden tourism activities between Prague and China, the two countries will once again enjoy more direct connections serving them going forward. Hainan Airlines will resume its direct route to Beijing this summer from June 24, 2024. This move comes after a break by the airline since the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw the direct connection suspended.

Passengers between the two regions can rejoice over the more flight options connecting these destinations. The carrier will operate from Prague to Beijing three times a week including Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The Prague to Beijing connection will add to the current direct connections from Prague to Taipei in Taiwan and Shenzhen city in southeastern China. With these connections, tourism experts expect the expansion of tourism and other relations between both countries.

In an earlier briefing in 2023, CEO of CzechTourism Jan Herget commented: 鈥淚t is so obvious that tourists from Asia are gradually returning to Czechia, which is related to the easing of covid restrictions and expanding all over the world, i.e. with the resumption or introduction of direct air connections.鈥�

Hainan Airlines is celebrated among the pioneers of Prague and Beijing direct flights. Its inaugural flight dates back to 2015 when its management at the time looked forward to expanding Czech-Chinese relations.

The connection remained operational for about three years. However, due to passenger loads, the Airbus serving the route was deployed to serve between Prague and Serbia鈥檚 capital Belgrade.

Hainan Airlines will expand the list of the most popular carriers on the Prague to China air route. The current carriers serving the route include Shenzhen Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Air China, easyJet, and Wizz Air.

More Chinese airlines expected to return in the future that operated flights from Prague to China before the pandemic are Sichuan Airlines. The carrier offered a connection to Chengdu. Also, China Eastern Airlines connected Shanghai and Xi鈥檃n, before the pandemic.
