Participants of the Prague Half Marathon will combine scenic attractions with staying physically fit this Saturday, April 6, 2024. It is this year’s first event of the RunCzech series. The race will start at 10 a.m. following routes through some of Prague’s iconic landmarks.

Attractions To Spot

The start point of this 21-kilometre race will be in the city center at HoleÅ¡ovice Market. Participants can observe activities of this lively market celebrated as one of the largest fresh markets in Prague. It also serves as a farmers’ market with many stalls of diverse fresh produce, an appealing sight to the eyes.

From the Holešovice Market, participants will proceed to the Edvard Beneš embankment. Along this area, runners will glance at Lesser Town and the stunning architecture of the buildings along the route. Proceeding to the waterfront area, runners can admire Letná, Čech Bridge, and Štefánik Bridge from a distance.

Jan Palach Square will be the next direction from the Edvard BeneÅ¡ embankment route. This square within Prague’s Old Town is a paradise of attractions like the Rudolfinum and the square’s memorial park which has a rich history. The square is by the riverside providing refreshing views of the river, as you go on with the race.

After the Jan Palach Square, other attractions on the half marathon route will be the Dancing House and many more. Some of the main routes the competition will follow include Pařížská Street and Legion Bridge.

Pařížská Street, traverses Prague’s Jewish Town connecting Old Town Square with Čechův Bridge. Runners can catch sight of stately townhouses with details of Art Nouveau. The street also houses global fashion brands where you can spot their store locations.

Legion Bridge connects Národní třída and the National Theatre on the right river bank with Újezd and Lesser Quarter on the left bank. The bridge path proceeds to cross over Střelecký Island, a popular park and recreational area. The half marathon participants can look forward to the sights of these surroundings as well as the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, visible from Legion Bridge.

Be aware that traffic on Pařížská Street and Legion Bridge among other major routes to be used during the half marathon will be disrupted. Most of the roads will remain closed to accommodate the race. More details on the program including traffic disruption are available on the CzechRun website.
