Get ready, circus fans! Prague is about to become the center of the circus world.  From 16^th August to 1^st September, 2024, the beautiful Letna Park will transform into a magical playground of acrobats, jugglers, and amazing performances. This festival is not your typical circus with lions and elephants. It is “contemporary circus” – a mix of traditional circus skills, theatre, dance and music.

World-Class Acts and Homegrown Talent Take Center Stage

Letni Letna brings together the best circus performers from around the globe. This year, you can catch shows by top groups from France, Taiwan, and right here in the Czech Republic. The festival kicks off with a bang, featuring the French group Akoreacro. “Arrêt d’urgence,” their show is full of music, fire, and jaw-dropping acrobatics.  You  will be on the edge of your seat – thats a promise.

But it is not just about international stars. Letní Letna is also a big deal for Czech circus groups. Two local favourites are celebrating big anniversaries this year. Cirk La Putyka turns 15 years, while The Losers Cirque Company marks 10 years since their first-ever show at the festival. It is a great chance to see how Czech circus has grown over the years.

Letni Letna is more than just fun and games, it has played a big part in growing the circus arts in the Czech Republic.  Thanks to the festival, Czech circus groups compete with any from Europe.

Ivana Pekna, who helps run the festival, says Czech performers make up for having less money with lots of heart. “You can see the huge amount of hard work behind their shows,” she explains. “What they might lack in fancy equipment, they make up for with passion. That makes their performances really special.”
