The year 2024 marks Franz Kafka’s 100^th Anniversary since his death on 3 June 1924. The Century commemoration will see many activities across the world throughout the year to celebrate the legacy of this literary legend from Prague.

This week, Prague’s Kampus Hybernsk谩 will host diverse activities for five days starting March 18, 2024. The activities will be held at the institution鈥檚 compound in central Prague.

One of the main stage performances will feature the author鈥檚 best-known work, The Metamorphosis a novel released in 1915. It will be performed by the acclaimed Hamburg-based artistic trio- Olga Seehafer, Jakob Fischer, and Lorenz Schmidt on Tuesday, March, 19. Participants will enjoy a mix of music and performance arts from the trio.

Visitors to the event will be treated to readings, panel discussions, workshops, and galleries. There will also be diverse performances and concerts, to commemorate Kafka’s legacy. Through theater experiences, participants will gain an understanding of Kafka’s literary journey, achievements, and connection to Prague.

The DOX Centre for Contemporary Art is still hosting the KAFKAESQUE exhibition dedicated to the Prague-born writer. The exhibition kicked off on February 8, 2024, and will run up to September 22, 2024.

According to KAFKAESQUE organizers, 鈥渢he aim of this exhibition is not to build new monuments that repeat old cliches, but to reflect Kafka鈥檚 work through the perspective of the contemporary world鈥�.

KAFKAESQUE exhibition has since February treated its visitors to the works of leading contemporary local and international artists. They are also showcasing various reflections and interpretations of Kafka鈥檚 different works including poetics. The exhibition will feature other events over time such as readings, concerts, and film projections that participants can look forward to.
