Injury-hit England forced to cope without Rashford for Euro qualifiers
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will not be part of the England squad for the Euro Championship qualifying campaign later this week. The news comes as a surprise to national fans, the squad, and personal fans who had hoped to see the young star spearheading his national team for Euro 2024 Qualifiers later this week. England faces the title defender Italy and Ukraine this week.
According to Fabrizio Romano, “Man United striker has had to pull out through injury.” Rashford suffered a knock during Sunday’s dramatic FA Cup semi-finals qualification match against Fulham at Old Trafford. Following the publication of this sad news, England coach Gareth Southgate has yet to issue a statement.
Rashford has been a key player for England since his call-up to the national team. His influence helped England to reach the Euro finals in 2021 although he failed to convert a penalty kick that saw them lose to Italy in the finals.
Marcus, who scored three goals at the World Cup in Qatar 2022, has been in scintillating form this season with 30 goals for club and country.
Mason Mount, a Chelsea FC and England national team midfielder, is also expected to miss the game due to an injury, as is Marcus Rashford.
