The 22nd edition of is out, and Lisbon’s ranks at 31st position. The list was revealed at a dazzling Awards ceremony on 5th June, at the Wynn Las Vegas. The ranking features top restaurants from 26 territories and five continents.
Belcanto, located in Lisbon, may have dropped six positions from last year, but its continued presence says something about its exceptional excellence. Chef Jose Avillez has built a name for this Michelin-starred establishment with quality contemporary Portuguese cuisine and stellar, attentive service.
The 45-seat restaurant presents a cozy, intimate space with elegant décor, vaulted ceilings and high windows. The meal choices are extensive, and diners can choose from a tasting menu or à la carte menu. The wine list is equally vast, featuring a wide selection of Portuguese and international wines.
According to Chef Avillez, the recognition is ‘not only important for Belcanto, but also for Lisbon and Portugal, because it contributes to the dissemination of Portuguese cuisine throughout the world…’
Ranking in the top position is Barcelona’s Disfrutar. The rest of the top five are Asador Etxebarri in Axtondo, Table in Âé¶¹APP, DiverXo in Madrid, and Maido in Lima.
