Frances Rose McIver is a New Zealand actress, who was born on 10th October 1988. She began her career with guest appearances in New Zealand-based series, such as Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Legend of the Seeker. She also had recurring roles in the Showtime period drama series Masters of Sex (2013–14) and the ABC fantasy adventure drama series Once Upon a Time (2013–2017). She is currently starring in the CBS supernatural sitcom Ghosts (2021).

McIver enjoys writing and is inspired by the works of John Steinbeck, Wally Lamb, and Franz Kafka. She also enjoys crossword puzzles and Sudoku.

1. She is best known for her role in the iZombie television series

Rose Mclver is best known for her role in the iZombie television series. She plays the part of Liv Moore in the CW series. She also played the role of Amber Moore in the romantic comedy film A Christmas Prince (2017) and its two sequels The Royal Wedding (2018), and The Royal Baby (2019),  and played Summer Landsdown the Yellow Ranger in Power Rangers RPM (2009). 

2. She is an ambassador for the Emirate airlines

Emirates is one of two flag carriers of the United Arab Emirates. It is based in Garhoud, Dubai, the airline is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is owned by the government of Dubai’s Investment Corporation of Dubai. It is also the largest airline in the Middle East, the world’s fourth largest airline by scheduled revenue passenger-kilometers flown, and the second-largest in terms of freight tonne kilometers flown.

She teamed up with Emirates Airline for a new partnership ‘Roam the World with Rose‘. Rose unveiled this great opportunity on August 22, 2017. The  ‘Roam the World with Rose‘ featured on her weekly posts on her Instagram account about the places she visited while in Europe, that Emirates flies to. Later in the year, Rose McIver shared a full report on the nzherald site about all the destinations she visited including Âé¶¹APP, Rome, Prague, and Barcelona.

3. She was on the cover of the inaugural issue of the New Zealand magazine MiNDFOOD style in 2014

The 350-plus page launch issue, including a 36-page Spring/Summer 2015 Runway Report pullout, featured talented New Zealand actor Rose McIver on the cover, who is now based in Los Angeles and perhaps best known for her role in Peter Jackson’s movie The Lovely Bones.

The new magazine was launched on newsstands on Monday, October 20, 2014.  The MiNDFOOD STYLE, is a brand extension to the successful MiNDFOOD,  debuting with more than 350 pages.

4. She began appearing in Tv commercials at age 2

Mclever started appearing in commercials when she was 2 years old. At the age of 3, she made her film debut in ‘The Piano (1993) film, in which she played an angel. While she was a child, she received roles in fantasy television series.

Had prominent guest roles in episodes of Once Upon a Time (playing Tinkerbell) and Masters of Sex (playing Vivian Scully) premiering on the same night in September 2013.

5. First movie role was playing an angel in the Piano

McIver can’t recall her first “acting” gig at age 2 but vividly remembers filming The Piano, a scene in which she was part of a school production.

She remembers being desperate for the toilet but she wasn’t allowed to because it looked cute and her character needed to go to the toilet. So they kept it in, it was a bit of method acting.  From there, enamored casting directors hired McIver not just for the preppy school girl roles – in the Disney films, Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off and Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board, she plays bright-as-a-button, complete with American accent – but edgier parts too.

6. She was a babysitter and worked part time importing bananas with Fair Trade

Mclever paid the bills between acting gigs with odd jobs babysitting and a part-time job importing bananas with Fair Trade. Gigs like Super City, which she was not allowed to talk about in her early production stages.

7. She took part in the ‘All Good Bananas’ promotion

The promotion  All Good Bananas ‘Conscience,  was set up in the produce section at the New World supermarket in Victoria Park. It was directed by a narrow beam of sound into a confined area, which only the person standing there could hear. 

Rose was among a group of celebrities including All Black Dan Carter, Boy director Taika Waititi and Krista White to sign a limited edition hand-crafted gold leaf jeroboam of champagne at All Good Bananas fashion week.

8. She loves writing

McIver enjoys writing and is inspired by the works of John Steinbeck, Wally Lamb, and Franz Kafka, she is also inspired by the film festival where she got on a documentary buzz. Her perfect day is wet and wild when she can hole up in the Wellington public library for a day to read and write. She also enjoys crossword puzzles and Sudoku.

In her acting career, Mclever was able to achieve various accomplishments in her life, like winning awards and getting nominations. They include; the 2012 Monte-Carlo Television Festival (Monaco)

Nominated for Best Performance by an Actress – Television Film: for Tangiwai: A Love Story,2007 Air New Zealand Screen Awards was nominated for Best Actress – Television: for Maddigan’s Quest, episode two,2002 TV Guide New Zealand Television Awards-Best Juvenile Actor/Actress: for Xena Warrior Princess, ‘Little Problems’ episode,1999 Nokia New Zealand Film Awards was nominated for Outstanding Contribution to a Short Film: for Flying.

10. Her family is artistic

McIver was born in Auckland and was raised in Titirangi by her father, John George Whitfield “Mac” McIver who was a photographer, and her mother, Ann “Annie” was an artist.  She has an older brother, Paul McIver, who is a musician and former actor. She studied ballet and jazz dance until she was thirteen.
