Dylan Hartley who is a New Zealand -born English Former Rugby union player was born in 1986. He was born one of the three boys, his brothers are Alex and Blair in Rotorua. It is a largely rural area in the Northern New Zealand.

He attended Rotorua Boy’s High school. This is where he began to play rugby as a loose head prop and graduated in 2002 with his teammates Liam Messam and Kelly Haimona.

Hartley was the captain of England from 2016 until the end of his international career in 2018. He is England’s most capped hooker of all time, earning his first cap in 2008. Hartley captained England to the Grand Slam in 2016, the first time that England had done this since 2003, and to a 3–0 series win in the 2016 Cook Cup against Australia. He announced his retirement in 2019.

Hartley received his first for England during the 2008 end of year rugby test. It was against the Pacific Islanders. He made his first  start for England  against Argentina at Old Trafford in 2009. Hartley  had capped 61 times since making his international debut.

2. He was  named new England captain for the 2016 six Nations Championship

Dylan Hartley was named as the New England  captain under Eddies Jones for the 2016 Six Nations Championship. He replaced Chris Robshaw. England went on to win the Grand slam.

He then captained the team  who had achieved England’s first ever away series win against Australia. in 2016.And during the series became England’s most capped hooker of all time.

After returning from injury during the 2016/17 season. Hartley was named in the 32-man squad for the 2016 Autumn internationals. And was again appointed captain.

In 2016 Dylan Hartley of England held the cook cup aloft. This is after winning the international Test match between Australian Wallabies and England  at Allianz Stadium in Sydney Australia. He enjoyed a hard-earned after leading England’s whitewash.

10. Dylan Hartley joined into the world of rugby criminality at a young age 

In 2007, at the tender age of 21, Hartley was issued a six-month ban for eye-gouging.

His citation complaint accused him of making purposeful and illegal contact with the eyes of not one, not two but three London Wasps players, during a Premiership match in April of that year.

The RFU disciplinary hearing considered only two of the accusations substantial enough to warrant punishment, but nevertheless handed Hartley—who at that point had not yet broken into the England squad—one of the longest bans in its history.

In 2014, Hartley was banned for three weeks for an elbowing offence in the match against Leicester Tigers. His elbow made contact with the nose of winger Matt Smith. Also in  2015, Hartley was found guilty of making contact with the head of opposite number Jamie George in the semi-final English premiership loss to  at Franklin’s Gardens.

He was found guilty by the citing commissioner and banned for four weeks, putting his England Rugby World Cup 2015 selection in jeopardy, as he would be unavailable for the first week of the tournament
