Scott Ronald Dixon is a professional racing driver from New Zealand. He competes in the NTT IndyCar Series for Chip Ganassi Racing. One of his wins which occurred under IndyCar Series sanctioning, made him the Winningest driver in the series’ history.
Dixon won at least one race for eighteen consecutive seasons between 2005 and 2022. He now has a record of winning a race in 20 seasons breaking A.J Foyt’s record of 18. Dixon was the only driver to win the IndyCar championship in his inaugural year in the series.

1. Scott Dixon Was Born in 1980
Dixon was born on July 22, 1980, in Brisbane, Australia. His parents, Ron and Glenys Dixon were New Zealanders who were dirt-track race car drivers.
When Dixon was very young, his family returned to Auckland, and he grew up in Manurewa, a suburb in South Auckland. He joined James Cook High School for his formal education.
2. Dixon Started Racing Karts at 7
He began racing karts as a seven-year-old, caught the attention of the New Zealand public, and was granted special dispensation to obtain a competition license at 13 years to race a salon car.
Dixon was competing at Pukekohe Park Raceway in a one-make series featuring the Nissan Sentra when he rolled the car onto its roof. He got national attention when television broadcasted him struggling from the upturned car.
3. Dixon Junior Racing Career Was a Success
He won the New Zealand Formula Vee Championship in 1994 before taking the Formula Ford Class 2 series in 1995 with 13 wins from 14 races. In `1996-1997, he won the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship.
Dixon decided to race in the Formula Holden category in Australia (open wheel racing category) in 1997. Businessman Christopher Wingate sponsored him and his Kiwi racing hero mentor Kenny Smith.
The businessman provided them with money and airfares between New Zealand and Australia to ensure Dixon’s career moved ahead. He won Rookie of the Year and third overall in the 1997 Australia Diver’s Championship driving the Ralt Australia prepared Reynard.
This win gave him a chance to drive with top team SH racing. Christopher Wingate suggested a company be formed to help fund Dixon, and the company was called Scott Dixon Motorsport (SDMS), funded by shareholders.
SDMS helped Dixon to pursue his career without worrying about money. He won the Australian Drivers’ Championship outright in 1998. This win came with an offer to race in the Australian V8 Supercar series, but his goal was higher, so arrangements were made for him to move to the United States.
4. Scott Dixon Moved to the United States in 1999
With the help of Scott Dixon Motorsport investors, he moved to the United States in 1999. He did a test in Sebring where Dixon broke the track record on his eighth lap, and he was then signed to Johansson Motorsports Indy Lights team
Dixon took the pole position for the Chicago oval race, which he won. Dixon was consistently fast throughout the year but had five DNF (did not finish), which limited him to fifth place in the series.
In 2000, he remained in Indy Lights, moving to the PacWest team. Dixon resoundingly took the championship, scoring six wins and seven podium finishes.
5. He Currently Competes in the NTT IndyCar Series
Dixon started racing for the IndyCar series in 2003 and won the s4eason opener at Homestead in Florida. Since 2003 he has continued to play up to now,
Dixon has won the IndyCar Championship six times, starting in 2003,2008,2013, 2015, 2018, and 2020. He also won the 92nd Indianapolis 500 in 2008 from pole position and in the 2022 Indianapolis 500, he passed Al Unser (644) for most laps led all-time in the race.
6. Dixon Was the Youngest Ever Winner of IndyCar Series Race
He joined IndyCar Series Race in 2003 and played there on its date. For a five-year period that ended in 2006, Scott was the youngest-ever winner of an IndyCar race.
7. Dixon Was Given Test Drive By BMW
In 2004 BW gave Dixon a test drive in a Formula One car even while he raced with Toyota engines in the IRL. At the Paul Ricard Circuit in France, Dixon drove a Williams and recorded respectable ties during a one-day test.
A two-day test six weeks later in Barcelona did not lead to a spot with the team. In July 2013, Autosport magazine named him one of the greatest drivers to have never raced in a Formula One.
8. Dixon Used to Race for PacWest Racing
Dixon moved to PacWest and in 2001, PacWest Racing graduated him to its full CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams). He immediately outpaced his teammates and at 20 years, he became the youngest winner of a CART race.
In 2001 he won the Jim Trueman trophy for rookie of the year and was eighth in the championship. In 2002 PacWest was short of cash and eventually collapsed; Toyota organized an introduction to Target Chip Ganassi Racing, adding a third extra car to its squad to accommodate him.
Dixon’s first experience with a top-level team with the then top engine supplier, Toyota. Dixon posted 12 top ten finishes, including a second place at Denver.
9. Dixon Has Amassed Many Awards and Honors Throughout His Career
In the 2009 New Year Honors, Dixon was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. In the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honors, he has appointed a Champion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for service to motorsport.
In 1999 he was awarded the Jim Clark Trophy CART Rookie of the Year. In 2004 Bruce McLaren 2020, Inducted into the Motorsport New Zealand Wall of fame, and in 2008 and 2013, he was named New Zealand’s Sportsman of the Year.
10. Dixon Was Married to Emma Davies
In February 2008, Dixon married Emma Davies, a former Welsh and British 800 meters champion. They have three children, two daughters, and a son.
They have been a long-term resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, where the mayor declared September 24, 2018, “Scott Dixon Day” in the city following his fifth IndyCar title.
