In 2005, she became engaged to American Actor Jimmi Simpson and in 2007, they got married in a chapel on Lake Hayes. However, their marriage didn’t last long and in 2012, she filed for a divorce. The divorce was settled in 2014.
In 2017, Melanie announced that she was engaged to Jason Ritter who she was dating for four years. The next year, she announced that she was pregnant and was due in December.
The couple got married in 2020.

As much as Melanie is an actress with a lavish life and fortune, she is just as human as anyone else. In 2016, she announced that she was struggling with an eating disorder that had lasted for several years.
At the age of 10, she learned about sheep farming and made the decision to become a vegetarian but now, she identifies as a pescetarian.
Melanie suffers from a condition called Misophonia. It is a condition in which individuals experience intense anger and disgust at certain sounds made by human beings.

As much as she had a normal childhood, one might say she had a comfortable early life with her mother being a real estate agent while her father was an orthopedic surgeon. The acting was more of a passion than a way out of a hard life.
